About this trip

This trip is an invitation to begin to discover, or rediscover, Italy.

Our 8-day, 7-night small group tour begins in Florence (a historic, artistic and cultural center of Italy as we know it), offers a glimpse into small-town Tuscany, and finally transports us to the Eternal City: Rome.

Take the opportunity to explore on foot, to stand before masterpieces, tour museums & various landmark sites, learn about and taste the flavors of the regions. From Florence, hop aboard a train (for the scenic ride, and to boost travel confidence by way of navigating public transport!) to venture outside of the main city scene.

We’ll encounter rolling hillsides, vineyards (which means wine too!), charming architecture, and the slower pace of la dolce vita. Then, experience the convenience of private transportation and the chance to make a couple side trips along our main route: stroll through labyrinth-like streets in another small town (or, “comune”), sip espresso at a hole-in-the-wall cafe, visit a park made up of enchanting gardens and sculptures that carry a rich, whimsical history.

In Rome take the perhaps once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join an add-on tour led by experienced & expert guides to see the main sites of the city. Alternatively, wander solo (perhaps still visiting a site or two on your bucket list - invite another group member if you please!) or join Carolyn on an exploratory spur-of-the-moment walk (something that you’ll likely have the opportunity to do in each location).

Rome, where we will end our group adventure, is well-connected to get to wherever you’re headed next (the airport, another accommodation in Rome, or perhaps you’ll be on your way to another destination that is part of an extended trip). Carolyn can help you figure out how to get where you need to be next.

I am eager to offer you the opportunity to see the world. I have been traveling for years near & far, & am excited to thoughtfully design travel experiences for you. Discover new places, cultures, food &more. My itineraries will tap into major highlights as well as the “local” scene, while providing efficiency & making the most of your time abroad. We will focus on being out & about exploring versus booking the “best” hotel (although our home base will be affordable, safe, clean & convenient). Ask about custom tours & or planning.

The itenary was well thought out. We stayed at two airbnb which were charming. We were able to do a few activies like make a pizza and gelato. Unfortunately we had a family death and we had to go back to the US. The travel host, Carolyn, was so amazing helping our family naviagate getting back home. I do want to try again as I was impressed with all her efforts to make a exciting, educational and fun adventure.
