Kentucky is not only known for Bourbon, its also known for its Equestrian pursuits and the world-famous Kentucky Derby horse race. So, this morning we will head out to the Racecourse of Churchill Downs and experience the Kentucky Derby Museum, the most dynamic and unique celebration known worldwide as the "Greatest Two Minutes in Sports”. Get an up close and personal view of the event that has WOW-ed the world for over 145 years. This afternoon we spend on Whiskey Row with a visit to the Evan William Bourbon Experience. Step back in time to meet Kentucky's first licensed distiller, Evan Williams. Along the way, you will visit recreations of the Louisville wharf in the late 18th Century, as well as Whiskey Row along Main Street from the 1890’s through the present. You’ll learn how Heaven Hill’s modern Bernheim Distillery operates and discover how it is different from distilling in Evan’s era. Then, you will see a combination of the two—a state-of-the-art, modern, operating distillery utilizing the same type of pot stills as the early Bourbon-making days. End the tour with 3 Bourbon tastings. On own this evening to enjoy the thriving culinary scene of Louisville. B

Finally enjoy a tasting of some of their award-winning products. Our next stop is at the Woodford Reserve Distillery where we’ll follow this unique bourbon’s production process ending of course with a tasting. Our final stop today is at the Wild Turkey Distillery where master distillers have stayed true to a tradition from before Prohibition. I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!

I enjoyed the trip. The Biltmore was in its Christmas splendor, the tour of the grounds was informative, the food at the Grove Park Inn was delicious, the shopping was great, and the accommodations comfortable. I’m glad the trip wasn’t cancelled. The people of Asheville were very appreciative of our patronage.

The trip was very well organized, enjoyable with various interesting stops along the route, such as Farmers Markets and Folk-Art Museum! We truly enjoyed the main attraction, Christmas at Biltmore, with it's breath taking beauty and charm! Comfortable accommodations, in particular the new smooth riding bus, and the company of friendly people made this trip and all around pleasant experience! Thank you, very well done Patty!
