Egg Tempera Painting

Old as the Egyptians and most famous during the Renaissance, egg tempera painting is becoming increasingly popular with artists today.  Tempera has unsurpassed luminosity.  Dozens of colorful glazes can be applied in a day, yet the medium also allows for fine linework and meticulous detailing. To learn a bit more about Egg Tempera visit this page on Koo's website... About Egg Tempera

Koo Schadler, an internationally recognized tempera artist, will guide you in creating your own, luminous masterpiece.  Students will learn the characteristics of pigments, how to mix fresh paint, dozens of ways to apply the paint, and different options for finishing an egg tempera painting. Open to all levels of painters, from beginner to advanced.

The Conneticut River Valley Inn and property was cozy, creative and colorful. The food was delicious and the hospitality and accommodations were great. The art studio on the property was perfect for our small group of 10. It had big windows and a high ceiling which made the space seem like we were outdoors. Flowers were abundant all around the property in the landscaping and in pots of seasonal flowers. It really felt like a “Flowerpalooza” party. The host added her extra special touches, like table-top s’mores for dessert and custom coffee mugs made from our own art. Lori Siebert brought a calm, happy energy into the studio classes. Even inexperienced artists seemed to thrive under her guidance. Lory’s approach to art and design is well-measured with bit of whimsy. Her creativity flows through her demos and her examples were easy to follow. We came to this event not knowing each other. We left as friends and “text” buddies, vowing to stay in touch. It was an awesome retreat experience. Highly recommend.

The class with Jodi Ohl and the group of women artists I spent my week with was truly empowering. Artists Rising is a beautiful and serene retreat location. I felt like I was staying in a friends home. The rooms were beautiful. Pat and Wayne did everything they could to make us feel comfortable. I would definitely attend this location for an art retreat again.

This was a wonderful workshop! Melinda is a fantastic artist and instructor who met each attendee where they were in their artistic journey. With a combination of visual examples, demos, exercises and time to paint, every artist came away with new insights and inspiration. I will definitely take another course with her! The Connecticut River Inn was a wonderful venue -- from the rooms to the meals, beautiful grounds, location and studio space. Pat is a very creative and generous innkeeper. I would highly recommend this venue and especially Melinda's instruction!
