The best time to go on a game drive in Kruger National Park is early in the morning, just before sunrise. This is when the animals are most active, and the chances of spotting them are highest. The morning drive typically starts around 5:30 am in winter and 6:30 am in summer.
What to Expect
During an early morning game drive, you will be transported on an open safari vehicle from your camp or entrance gate to explore the park’s vast wilderness. An experienced guide will interpret the natural bush and offer insight into the ways of the Kruger National Park.
Going on game walking trails in Kruger National Park is an experience you’ll never forget. See and hear the bush up close as game rangers lead you on these once in a lifetime tours.
Kruger Park walks normally last about 3-4 hours. We talk about these tours on this page.
When you go on a guided Kruger National Park bush walk, two armed professional park rangers lead you. They know what all the signs, sounds and sights of the bush mean.
You’ll leave the rest camp in darkness on a special open-sided four wheel drive. You’ll travel on roads that aren’t open to regular park visitors. You might be lucky and spot a few nocturnal animals on the way to the walking trail starting off point, such as spring hares and bushbabies.
We will begin the journey and drive through some of the most scenic areas of the Eastern part of South Africa. Have lunch at a local restaurant and then drive to view Pinnacle Rock and then to experience the amazing view from God’s Window (Wonder View). We then visit the Berlin Falls, where numerous local arts and crafts are for sale. (Lunch en-route, restaurants available) From here we visit Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and then head the Blyde River Canyon, where we overnight in a chalet at the resort: Forever Blyde Canyon (or similar).
