Welcome to La Casita Feliz's inaugural Spring Break Mexico trip, April 12-20, 2025.
Our goals:
- An educational and fun-filled trip for all ages, specially paced for kids
- Parents get to enjoy some kid-free time and activities
- Kids (and grown-ups) get to put their Spanish to use in real life situations
Each day has a *kid-paced* plan -- we don't have super long days, we don't try to cram too much in, and we don't have super long bus rides. We consciously plan for kids' attention spans, interests, eating times, etc.
Mexico City is FULL of amazing things to do with kids, but we've picked the highlights for you, ones that you shouldn't leave Mexico City without, like Teotihuacan, Xochimilco, Frida Kahlo's House, and an interactive little city for kids (Kidzania), and more! It will undoubtably leave you wanting to return for more in the future.
The kids (and grown-ups!) will have ample opportunities to be immersed in Spanish and the families that join will grow special bonds that only traveling together can bring.
There is consistent daily transportation: a passenger bus where you put car seats in and do not have to take them in/out each day :)
You will stay at a 4 star hotel with a pool and several restaurants so families are able to enjoy the hotel amenities.
We passionately believe everyone will be more engaged and enjoy the trip MUCH MORE if they have context and knowledge about what they'll experience BEFORE they go. It brings the sights and history to life -- and then when kids see pyramids, or a blue house with paintings, they KNOW and UNDERSTAND what those are and why they're important. The kids get EXCITED to visit what they have learned about.
So, that said, we will provide you with:
- Instructions for uniquely-designed Mexican educational activities that specifically support *this* trip. Topics range from Mexican history & culture, to tortilla-making, to learning about the Peso & its value, to discovering Frida Kahlo, to Spanish vocabulary building, and more. We package them up as "Mexico nights", designed to be done during/after dinner (but you could do them whenever you want). Since you're traveling with other families in your community, we recommend getting the families together and having the kids do the activities together, facilitated by the parents.
- A list of curated books, movies, podcasts, etc related to Mexico, Aztecs, Teotihuacan, Frida Kahlo, and more. You may tap into any of those as you and your children see fit :)

Why should I travel with Little Stints?
It's super easy for parents. We've already done the heavy lifting, the meticulous curating and planning. We have personally tried the trip and iterated to make it even better! You get to just show up. You’ll have fun, your kids will have fun, you’ll actually have a bit of a “vacation” rather than just a “family trip” where you return home utterly exhausted... and you’ll learn a lot too!
What age kids can go?
Any age! The trips are geared towards families with younger kids (think age 0-10ish), but nothing would stop a family with young kids from bringing a tween/teen if you have one! We have found that at age 4ish (maybe even 3 if precocious) is when kids START to engage more and get the most out of it (participating in learning about things ahead of time and connecting that when we’re in destination), but we’ve had 1 year olds and 2 year olds that had a great time too. And of course the 6-10s engage, connect, and get a ton out of the experience!
Can grandparents come?
Yes, absolutely. As long as they understand it's a trip planned for kids, they're totally welcome to join.
What’s the minimum number of families?
We need at least 16 people (which is often only around 4-5 families) to run a trip!
Is there a trip maximum?
Yes, it's limited to 18 people, which sometimes we can stretch to 19 (bus limitations).
Can a nanny/au pair come?
Yes, absolutely. If they require their own private hotel room, please email/call me for pricing. jessica@littlestints.com / 619.786.4816
