About this trip

Long Island Excursion!

Monday May 22-Wednesday May 24, 2023

You will travel toward Riverhead with a stop in Oyster Bay for a nice brunch before you tour the Oheka Historic mansion.  The tour will end with treats from the pastry kitchen. As we head toward Riverhead a stop will be made at a winery for tasting.  Finally, you will check into the waterfront hotel, Hyatt Place East End & Resort Marina that offers water views. Dinner will be enjoyed near the hotel at a nice restaurant.  The following day you will experience the Hamptons with a local guide.  You will start in historic Southampton Village, the oldest English settlement in New York State. He will lead you through former farmlands, now the location of the estates of the rich and famous. We will stop at America’s Number 1 beach, Cooper’s Beach, where you will have a chance to take a stroll and enjoy the beauty of this famous playground of the wealthy residents. From there, we will travel to the heart of Southampton Village’s shopping district where on your own you will have time to shop the boutiques, experience America’s oldest department store, Hildreth’s, and have a snack at Southampton’s gourmet market, Citarella.  We will travel to Montauk via Bridgehampton, Sagaponack, East Hampton and tour neighborhoods south of highway.  You will enjoy lunch at Gosmans Dock before a tour of the Montauk Lighthouse.  Finally, we will travel to East Hampton and visit the Ladies Village Improvement Society and shop the Bargain Box Store.  The evening will close with a magical private buffet dinner presented in the Long Island Aquarium amongst  sea friends. You will have the opportunity to explore the aquarium open to our group only! The following morning we enjoy Conscience Point, location where original settlers landed when they arrived in Southampton, June, 1640 - Take a stroll to the Point.  We will leave for Sag Harbor to visit the Sag Harbor Whaling museum, Old Whalers Church and enjoy lunch on your own in the village. Finally, we will travel to North Fork via  South Shelter Island Ferry  and visit a winery before we board the bus to head home after a happy, wine-ful excursion.

We had a wonderful time on the trip to Newark Basilica. The Ballantine House was very interesting, the meal at Adego Grill was excellent, and the Cathedral Carol Sing was so beautiful. Thank you, Faith and John for all your hard work this past year. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy Happy New Year, and looking forward to many more adventures with Garden State Getaways. Kathie and Barbara

We did have a wonderful time in Boston - awesome adventures, great weather and touring, and made some new acquaintances. Thank you Faith as we always wanted to see the Boston Pops and now we have as we can check that off out bucket list. This was our first overnight with you and it won't be our last. Frank and Nancy B.

It was a lovely show. Other th a n that it was a nightmare. Bus was late at Westerly, which put us in NYC 5 minutes before the show started. Christmas tree lighting that night so could not go anywhere. Streets blocked off, stores closed.

Glad you enjoyed the show! Unfortunately with the terrible shooting a few blocks from Radio City that morning, along with the tree lighting that night, many roads were blocked/closed and traffic was very heavy. Sorry your experience was not what we had planned. Happy Holidays!

Joy To The World on Dec11, 2024 in Lancaster, PA. A perfect day trip! Lunch at the Amish home was delicious. The show was superb. We had a great time. Very well managed by Vikky.

In May, I traveled with GS Getaways to Brooklyn, Philadelphia twice and a multi-day tour to Long Island. Each experience was unique, interesting and well run. The excellent step-on guides and docents greatly enhanced the knowledge and appreciation of the sites, and the special meals or restaurants were carefully chosen. It was also fun getting to know so many fellow travelers and reconnecting with a few from previous trips. Thank you, Faith and company! Lois D.
