About this trip

Los Tuneles - Cabo Rosa

This excursion starts with a 45-minute boat ride to Roca Union where we will circumnavigate this pinnacle rock in the middle of the ocean. We will see Nazca boobies, if we are lucky, blue-footed boobies, iguanas and sea lions perched on the rock. From here we continue our journey keeping our eye out for giant manta rays. On occasion, dolphins and whales have been spotted in this area. The Tunnels is a site named by local fisherman where they go diving for lobsters in tunnels formed by lava flows under the sea. There are natural lava bridges and arches above the water that were formed by cooling lava after an eruption of Volcano Cerro Azul many years ago. You will have the opportunity to snorkel here and take a short walk on the lava rocks. The marine life is amazing. Hopefully you will see white tipped reef sharks sleeping in caves in a nearby location called Finado.

Note: Private charters available, contact us for further information.

Fantastic tour. I loved it since minute zero. The guide was an expert in the area and very relaxed.

Tour excelente! Rico nos guiou até a ilha, compartilhou fatos interessantes sobre os animais, nos mostrou muita vida. O kayak foi uma experiência extraordinária em Isabela e recomendo essa vivência a todos.

Our family had a fantastic time kayaking and snorkeling with Christian! He tailored the experience to our family with younger children (ages 7 and 10) and knew where to find all the animals! We saw penguins, blue footed boobies, sea lions, sea turtles, sting rays and more! Kevin was great at helping us get it scheduled and picked us up at our hotel. He also found a shop for us to buy our kids some new sun hats that took credit card (a rarity on Isabela-take lots of cash!). Definitely a highlight of our Galapagos trip!

This is a fantastic tour. We paddled around the tintoreras islet and saw a variety of birds. We paddled up to a small penguin colony of 4-6 birds. We then paddled over to to a fisherman clean his catch. In the water sharks and seals swam around eating the discards. They would come right under our kayaks, you could touch them they were so close. It was super cool and the guide quite knowledgeable. I would recommend the evening tour if you want to get a chance to see sharks. That is when the fisherman come in.

The kayak they use is very stable, even from modest waves hitting broadside. We saw turtles, penguins, boobies, sea lions and a beautiful landscape. After going back, we were led by our knowledgeable friendly guide snorkeling and the wildlife continued with sharks, rays and plenty of colorful fish. Great value on this trip!
