At A Glance

The Lowcountry where rivers fall into the sea to make their last dive.

Nowhere in America did the cooking of master and slave combine so gracefully as it did in the Lowcountry kitchen.

From Shrimp N Grits, Crab Cakes, Stone Grown Grits, Carolina God Rice, Whole Pork BBQ Fried Fish, Collard Greens, BBQ Oysters, Boiled Peanuts, Pimento Cheese and Sweet Tea, The Low country is where you can get it all.

On these food experiences, we will travel from Charleston to Savanah tasting and eating food grown and caught in the coastal regions and waters of South Carolina and Georgia—, Lowcountry cooking is a hodgepodge of international influences: African, French, English, and Caribbean alike.

Our Lowcountry Food Tour will begin in the South Carolinian portion of the Lowcountry—Charleston—which is indisputably the capital of the Lowcountry (thanks to its 500,000 acres of wetlands, salt marshes, swamps, creeks, lakes, ponds, and former rice fields).

Come with us and on this slow Lowcountry Food Crawl from Charleston, Hilton Head, and Savannah, and let's taste it all!

Reviews

We had the best of experiences on this journey. Mr. B, Steve, Miles and even our bus driver, Josh, could not have done more for us. They were so generous in their time, attention, and with their immense knowledge of civil rights history and the blues. It was abundantly clear they wanted us to learn and have a great time. In fact, we did learn so much all while having tons of fun along the way with a fantastic small group of students and two professors from Switzerland. Even our bus rides on a state-of-art comfortable coach were made enjoyable with guide-curated blues music and pertinent segments of civil rights documentaries. The experience was intimate, personal, and immersive. Tours can offer so much when they are done well and right: expert guides, safe transport, visits to places one would never otherwise go, and new acquaintances and friends. I am thrilled I took this trip and look forward to another experience with Civil Rights Trail Tours. Go, Mr. B! And, thank you!!!
