The maximum group size for this trip is 10 participants.
Smaller groups are my preferred way to travel, teach, and photograph.
Many of our photographers over the years have asked for smaller groups and feedback about smaller group size has been overwhelmingly positive.
Smaller groups allow us to travel together in one vehicle making our logistics easier and more convenient, and provides the opportunity to get to know, learn from, and share with other participants.
And, a smaller group means more attention and support (if you need it) as you photograph.
My intention as a group leader is to allow you to do your own thing, but to be there for you if/when you need support. If you have questions about composition, camera settings, infrared with your "big" camera or your iPhone, or anything else, I'll be more available to you with a smaller group.
I don't determine an itinerary until after I've scouted the region before each workshop. Each day is planned based on weather and what I've learned about the location of crops, barns, and other subjects.
Depending on the weather and cloud cover each day, we'll photograph locations throughout the region that include old, sometimes abandoned structures, crop fields, cloud shadows, lone trees, streams and bridges, small historic towns, farm equipment, retired farm trucks, and some sunrises and sunsets.
We'll eat lunch in small local restaurants, get ice cream at a local hardware store, and may take in cultural events such as an antique car show, boat race or other event that may be going on while we're in the area.
We'll have at least one classroom learning session to discuss photographing techniques and processing, and every photo session in the field is an opportunity for learning.
My goal is to get you to photogenic locations at the right time of day, and make myself available to support you as needed. I will photograph along side of you, but mostly so I can share camera settings or show composition suggestions. Your questions and needs for support are why we're here and take precedent over my photography.
