Safe and responsible travel

We're committed to ensuring our trips remain safe for everyone — for our travelers, our leaders and crew, and the people we visit along the way. As responsible travelers, anyone who chooses to travel with us has a duty of care to themselves and the people around them. Travelers are required to comply with local regulations and laws.

What are the medical and vaccination requirements?
Medical and general vaccination requirements differ between nations and as we are not medical practitioners, we unfortunately cannot advise on this issue. Please see your local GP or travel doctor for details and advice about current vaccination requirements.

We believe vaccinations play a key role in saving lives and helping to keep people safe. Around 70% of the world is vaccinated against COVID-19 but vaccination rates remain low in some of the destinations and communities we visit.   Therefore proof of up to date COVID Vaccine is required on all of our trips.

All travelers must have a valid passport for international travel and many countries require at least 6 months validity from the date of return. Some countries also require a machine-readable passport and/or unstamped available pages. When assisting with an international travel booking, we will assume that all travelers on the booking have a valid passport. If this is not the case, you must let us know. It is important to ensure you have valid passports, visas and re-entry permits which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities. Hi! We are Melissa & Wade. We have been traveling full time for over 7 years and taking you along with us for the last few years. We invite you to see the world with us on a budget as we explore destinations through culture, food, nature and art.

Reviews

I just returned from the PPGT Iceland in Depth journey, planned and organized by Melissa and Wade. How do you describe an experience that leaves you feeling refreshed, amazed and thankful all at the same time? How do you properly write a review about a place that was not only on a bucket list, but also felt like you returned home and was actually in depth? A special thank you to Johanna, who was not only our fearless leader and chauffeur, but to call her a guide is an understatement. She wrapped us in a wonderful love of her country, warm stories, and folklore, took us off that beaten path, and invited us into her own home. At times it felt like those familiar family trips in the old station wagon hauling the trailer. This trip, along with many offered by Penny Pinching Globetrotters creates an experience that leaves you wanting to see this beautiful world even more. Organized and planned thoroughly, all details are looked after. Many new friends are always made, and it’s not a trip but an experience.

My first time traveling abroad and it was amazing! The itinerary was exceptional with each day filled with new and varied experiences. The people were warm and friendly, accommodations were comfortable, and the food was delicious. This was my very first solo trip with Wade and Melissa, but it certainly won't be my last!

This was a very enjoyable tour of Scotland that covered a lot of ground in just a week. We got to see a lot of beautiful countryside, from Glasgow to the Isle of Man, learned about some of Scotland's marine life by boat, learned about some of Scotland's history by touring a castle and a battleground museum, and experienced some of its culture, from eating haggis to tasting Scotch and from listening to bagpipes to listening to Scottish folk songs being sung in packed pubs in Edinburgh. We toured Loch Ness and learned about the elusive "Nessie" and got to see some of Scotland's famously cute Highland "coos." We had knowledgable tour guides who handled logistics for us and helped us get the most out of our time in Scotland and I enjoyed getting to know fellow travelers as well.

The trip accommodations, tours, and transportation were excellent. Every expectation was exceeded. The hosts and guide, Melissa, Wade and Jules were exceptional and made this a memory to last a lifetime.

My family has been my rock.....my greatest source of strength when my world was falling apart. When I told them about my plans to get back to traveling and the possibility of traveling solo, they all had the same request....please don't go 100% alone...find you a group or tour company. After looking at more than I can remember and realizing that most just weren't the right fit for me, I found Melissa and Wade and Penny Pinching Globetrotter. Their small group sizes, culturally immersive and eco-touristic active itineraries were just what I was looking for. With the opportunity to journey through a new country with like minded travelers, I was sure that this group was for me. Even though I would be traveling alone both to and from the destination, once there, I would still be traveling to meet new people and experience new things...just not completely on my own. And I was right! I had a wonderful experience with a terrific group of people that began as strangers, but ended as friends ❤️

This is my 2nd trip with Melissa and Wade. Having now spent a month of days with them, two continents and destinations I can tell you if you’re looking for a real experience without a lot of the hassle their trips are ideal. I have travelled solo and done all the work so I have a good frame of reference for what goes into planning an idyllic experience. Melissa and Wade with the help of a local guide really take the worry and stress out of planning. When things don’t go as planned they will remove the obstacles and get you back on track whether that’s illness or just circumstance they’ve got you covered. If you yearn to learn about the culture and have a real experience meeting the local people and getting off the beaten path these trips are for you. I have some solo trips planned but hope to travel with them again.

Penny Pinching Globetrotters is my go to for my trips. Peru is my 4th trip with Penny Pinching Globetrotters. Melissa plans every trip down to the smallest detail. Makes traveling so easy. I book my plane ticket and pack my clothes and I’m ready to go. I have been to some amazing places and met wonderful people because of PPG. I have two more trips already planned with Melissa and Wade. Looking forward to seeing new places and meeting fellow travelers.
