About this trip

Scuba diving in the Maldives will expose you to its rich marine life of mantas, whalesharks, turtles, octopus, large schools of fish, beautiful anemones and clownfish, healthy hard and soft corals.  The biodiversity is abundant wherever your eyes will look.  Each dive will bring excitement as you see things that perhaps you have not seen before.  Expect to do a lot of diving - up to 4 dives a day off of their additional custom built dive tender.  A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot.

We will explore the Maldives via the longest running live aboard - the Manthiri.  It is the most experienced dive operator within the Maldives as it was established in 1996.  The live aboard was built to provide personalized attention with only a total of 12 guests aboard.  The crew is comprised of highly experienced staff.  Moosa Hassan, the live aboard's lead dive guide, has over 12,000+ dives in the Maldives. His familiarity of these waters allows us to visit the most excellent dive sites!

One of the additional highlights to this trip are the delicious meals served for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Bottled water, coffee, tea and juices are also included.  Soda, beer, wine, hard liquor are available for purchase.

The price per person is $5.400 based on double occupancy and includes roundtrip airport transfers in Male from airport to live aboard, up to 4 dives a day, tanks, weights, 16% Food/Services Tax $6 per night, Government Green Tax and $175 boat fuel surcharge.

Liveaboard Information:

The Manthiri is custom-designed for the optimal dive experience but also for comfort. The vessel's exceptionally wide beam minimizes rocking motion and our limit of twelve guests allows for commodious cabins. Cabin configurations provide numerous options, with four spacious twins and two doubles that feature roomy queen-size beds.

All cabins are en suite, with hot-water showers, convenient hair dryers, individually controlled air-conditioning and minibars. The dive tender allows guests to transfer your dive gear off the main boat, so there’s plenty of storage in every cabin; a locker and drawers await clothes and luggage stowage is handily accessible.

The Manthiri’s teak-paneled salon is one of the largest found on any vessel of this size. Relaxingly furnished with expansive, upholstered sofas, it also offers a state-of-the-art music system, DVD player, and multi-system TV/VCR with video camera viewing facilities.

The camera salon is equipped with a well-lit work station, a computer for instant download of digital photos and a slide projector. Manthiri has been outfitted by professionals with underwater photographers top of mind.

When sea breezes beckon, Manthiri’s top deck is artfully arranged to accommodate both sun-worshippers and shade-seekers. Deck chairs are ideally placed for soaking in the rays, icy drink in hand, or star-gazing in the evening.

Husband Bobby (diver) and I (non-diver) both thoroughly enjoyed our August 2024 Roatan vacation, hosted by David Guernsey @ Mayan Princess Beach Resort. On-site dive crew was terrific, prompt boat escort to interesting collection of dive sites a few X every day. David, Dive Master & all around nice person was an expert in troubleshooting equipment, too. His expertise in all things people & gear was gr8ly appreciated. I enjoyed my time at the beautiful resort (not affected on cruise port days) & rented a local's car to explore the island on my own (safe!)....tropical botanical forest tour, hiking, beach walks, snorkeling in Sandy Bay & even played some pickleball! 3rd time to Roatan in the last 30yrs, so we noticed tourism has definitely amped up w/ the cruiseships & mainstream travelers. Main roads are paved now, clean water available everywhere, most speak English, air-conditioning, back up generators during storms, modern pool, clean gorgeous sandy beach (not overrun w/ Sargassum like Belize) on West End Bay. Tourist accessibility, however, has taken a toll on the reefs. Like all beautiful places on this planet, I hope efforts to preserve & protect become precedent. We <3 ROA

Well planned and executed trip by SA Scuba Shack. Beautiful accommodations and fantastic dive crew. As a group, we all had a great time together.

Resort and resort staff were very nice. The beach club was disturbingly loud on Saturday night till midnight. The food was poor to mediocre. Dive operation was ok. We had an experienced group but they did not offer a checkout dive and the dive master was new and mostly only took us on very basic dives.
