What our travelers say about our trips

ā€œThe trip with GoNP was absolutely amazing. Where I live, I donā€™t have many gay guys I can go hiking with, so to meet guys from all over the country who are passionate about the outdoors was incredible. I went on the trip to build community and I did just that.ā€

-Kyle from North Carolina

ā€œI knew it would be fun. I didnā€™t expect a heart-forward adventure. As an ā€˜advanced beginnerā€™ in camping and hiking, I couldnā€™t have asked for a kinder, more helpful, and more caring group of queers. I had a blast and left with new friends and incredible memories.ā€

-Chris from San Francisco, CA

ā€œI think we often hear about the shared queer experience of not fitting in or feeling fully safe in non-queer spaces. But truthfully, Iā€™ve also always felt somewhat on the periphery of queer spaces, like someone who arrived late to a party and couldntā€™ quite break into the circle or catch up on the conversation. I spent the last week surrounded by a group of queer men and felt both welcome and at ease in way I havenā€™t ever experrienced before. Although Iā€™ve been extremely out of the closet for several years now, Iā€™m also still learning about and growing into this facet of my identity. It felt really special to do some of that learning and growing with these incredible people.ā€

-Jiwan from San Diego, CA

ā€œI joined the GoNP for a week to visit Big Bend National Park and see the total solar eclipse in April 2024, only knowing the organizer, who I randomly met abroad the previous year. I had never been to the United States and didnā€™t have many expectations, but it was truly a great week for me, probably the best of my life. It was a rare occasion in the queer community that wasnā€™t about dating or hooking up but having deep conversations with new best friends for life and enjoying the beauty of the national parks at the same time. I am so grateful to myself to have blindly said yes to this trip!ā€

-Julian from Germany
