MENDOZA

3 nights accommodation in shared dorm + airport or bus station pickup and drop off + excursion to wineries, rafting and canopy in Potrerillos, and High Mountain Valley.

Day 1: Mendoza
Arrival in Mendoza. Check in.

2.30pm - Pick up from the hostel for the Winery Tour excursion (half day): this tour runs among vineyards in the areas of Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu. You will learn how the Huarpes Indians managed to change a vast desert into a productive river oasis with their irrigation techniques. You will visit two wineries, one with traditional organic methods and the other that uses the latest available technology. You will learn about the vinification methods and processes, bottling and labelling of wines. At the end of the tour you will taste the different grapes that the wineries offer, including the iconic Malbec wine, the star of this region. You’ll be back at your accommodation by 7 pm.

DAY 2: Mendoza

Breakfast.

7.00am - Pick up from the hostel for the Aconcagua Valley High Mountain excursion (full day): early in the morning along the river Mendoza, get a view of the Cordon del Plata mountain range and the Potrerillos dam, colossal work for hydraulic power generation and water distribution for irrigation. Your next stop is at Uspallata, pre-Hispanic settlement of Huarpes indians and the southern last point of the Inca Empire. You will see the Vaults of Uspallata, historic mud buildings. Afterwards, you will visit the villages of Picheuta, Polvareda, Punta de Vacas and Los Penitentes ski resort, where you’ll have some free time for the use of chairlifts to enjoy the panoramic views. Later, you will find Puente de Inca along your route, a huge natural bridge with strands of hot springs. Continuing the road, 2750 metres above sea level you will reach the viewpoint of Cerro Aconcagua, the highest mountain in America (6959 metres high). From there, you are going to the Laguna Horcones and the Aconcagua Provincial Park, and lastly to Las Cuevas, an European-style village located 3200 metres above sea level. Back to the hostel around 8 pm.

Optional - During summer season, enjoy a nice hike to Quebrada del Durazno at the base of Aconcagua, passing through Horcones Lagoon

DAY 3: Mendoza

Breakfast.

9.00am - Pick up from the hostel for the Rafting and Canopy excursion in Potrerillos: an activity designed for adventure lovers looking for a complete experience surrounded by the Andes Mountains. You’ll drive for about 45 minutes to Potrerillos, a town known for its breathtaking views of the Andes Mountains. When you arrive at the base, the guide gives an instructive talk about the handling and safety of the activity. After this presentation, you’ll head up to the top of the road and begin our journey along the Mendoza River, covering an exciting rafting circuit that extends for 8 km. Once the rafting activity is over, you’ll have an hour and a half approximately to have lunch and walk around the base. To finish the day you'll do Canopy adrenaline, which has a route of 1400 metres through a mountain harness, to cross 6 cables that reach a height of up to 60 metres.

Day 4: Mendoza

Breakfast. Check out and transfer to the airport. End of services.
