Wednesday, June 26:

Begin the journey into Quito 


Thursday, June 27: Rest Day

Arrival into Quito at 3:00am Pickup from airport to Kitu hotel. 

Rest day


Friday, June 28: Otavalo

7:30am Pickup to Otavalo

Full day in Otavalo. 

Possible activities to choose from: Cuicocha lake, Cotacachi Town, Otavalango Museum, El Gran Condor, Music Workshop, Peguche Waterfall, Otavalo Market. Return after dinner. 


Saturday, June 29: Explore Quito

Explore Quito at your own pace.

Possible activities: Guayasamin museum, historic district, botanical gardens, Sapo Parque (frog park) 


Sunday, June 30:  Explore Quito / Return to Zaysant

Possible activities: Historic District, botanical gardens, Sapo Parque (frog park)

Transport: 5:00pm  @ Kitu Hotel. (They can store your luggage while you're out). You'll be brought to Zaysant and will arrive around 6:00 pm.

Nancy is a passionate, self proclaimed, PR representative for insects. While earning her Master's degree at the University of Georgia in Entomology, it became crystal clear that most people did not see insects the way she did. Following her Master's, Nancy flew to the heart of the Ecuadorian cloud forest where she worked in an ecolodge. After two years, Nancy traded her leafy green jungle for the concrete jungle of Quito where she designs her own tours under the name SciBugs. She has been working in Ecuadorian Tourism since 2015.

Nancy, with SciBugs, has given me a life-changing unforgettable experience. From the rich history of Ecuador to its extreme biodiversity, her tours are all encompassing. Nancy was flexible for our personal experiences. She planned every fine detail so we could experience a new culture without stress. I felt safe knowing she had years of experience with these locations. Each ecolodge was spectacular in its own way. We toured the city of Quito historical district, dove into the food and coffee, and enjoyed being surrounded by the Andes mountains. This was a great way to start the SciBugs Evolution Tour, even though it has nothing to do with bugs or evolution. I had a great time touring through churches and art galleries, and trying local treats like hot chocolate with chunks of cheese in it. We finished our tour with a visit to the Virgin of Quito, a giant statue of "Apocalypse Mary" that overlooked the city. Nancy was a great guide, providing interesting context and navigating through unexpected closures and schedule changes.
