Thursday, September 12

7:30am Gather with your fellow travelers at Capitol Tours office in West Columbia to prepare for departure at 8:00am.

11:00am Arrive at Jeter Mountain Farm Apple Orchard. We will spend the next few hours exploring the orchard and all it offers. This includes a wagon ride through the orchard, cider press and tasting, and free time at the market to purchase apples, jams, jellies, and bakery goods. Lunch is included with a choice of a sandwich from the onsite 1813 Smokehouse food truck or a boxed meal from Panera.

2:30pm It’s been a fun time at the farm but it’s time to board the motorcoach to go to our next stop.

3:15pm Arrive at Pearsons Falls & Glen in Saluda. This beautiful 90-foot falls are accessible by a ¼ mile trail. The trail has benches along the way to the falls, however, limited paved areas plus uneven rocks and stairs. The trail is NOT ADA accessible. Those who do not wish to walk the trail can wait at the picnic shelter.

4:00pm Back on the motorcoach we continue to a South Carolina historical landmark, Poinsett Bridge for a photo op of the state’s oldest bridge. The bridge was completed in 1820, part of the original road connecting Greenville to Asheville.

4:30pm It’s been a fun filled day out in nature, but time to make our way back to West Columbia.

6:00pm Estimated arrival at Capitol Tours.

Great trip!! Our guide Mr. Al Miller was wonderful, learned so much about the Gullah/Geechee culture. The International African American Museum was very educational although for me a little heart-wrenching at times. Enjoyed lunch on the waterfront also. Thanks Capitol Tours for the trip!
