About this trip

We must risk delight. We must have the stubbornness to accept our gladness in the ruthless furnace of this world." -Jack Gilbert

Join  Lila Heller  and special guest teacher Katie Ybarra in beautiful Northern California for A Movement As Medicine Retreat. As summer begins,  we will be bringing in joy, play and nurturing. This 3 nights and 4 day retreat will feature daily morning and afternoon Love of Movement Method classes and Breathwork sessions.  The movement classes are a unique blend of Pilates, yoga, applied neurology, primal movement and Breathwork. Lila has coined her method, The Love of Movement Method.

You will have plenty of time to relax, hike, rest,  and mediate. We will be fed by ALexandra Sargant of Wildhart Catering, who specilizes in Ayuvedic cooking.

We will savor every moment by soaking in the hot tub, swimming in the pond, hiking the trails around the hills and through the redwoods!  We have tons of accommodations options and the whole center to ourselves.

WhisperTree Retreat Center is located just outside the town of Boonville. Nestled in a protected watershed, Bell Valley offers a refuge from the bustle of daily life and stress. There are six miles of trails that weave throughout the beauty and solitude of rolling oak hills and open meadows. The unique accommodations are thoughtfully integrated into the landscape some of which are located in the historic Toll House.

Lila is a gifted teacher and retreat facilitator. This is my second retreat with Lila, and I always return home feeling so rejuvenated. From the beautiful location, the nourishing food, the mindful movement, and thoughtful agenda. I always find plenty of time for rest, exploration, and play. I also always enjoy the people that Lila attracts, such a beautiful array of people from all walks of life. Always kind, friendly, and interesting! I will absolutely be attending the next one.

Thank you Lila for creating another amazing retreat experience! Descriptive words are: connection, inspiration and nourishment. Lila's infectious and generous warmth and her skill for blending modalities offer an opportunity to be more present and aware in my body. I am encouraged to continue to move and feel better. The natural setting at Whispertree was a perfect place to renew my spirit. I left walking taller and my heart filled with gratitude. It was a gift to share this time with so many other wonderful humans.

Perfect in every way -- great teachers, gorgeous setting, charming tent and bath house, wonderful people. Thank you Lila! Bath house could have been closer to the lower tents! But it was good movement walking up and down.

Lila is a wonderful teacher, and her calm and grounded presence created a beautiful sense of community. The food was delicious and the accommodations lovely, and clean. There was a perfect balance of classes, relaxation, and socializing. I recommend to anyone who wants to take a break from busyness to rejuvenate, move, and nurture themselves. You will leave feeling refreshed and changed!

I came back from this trip physically able to BREATHE again! Truly magical experience, and the perfect mix of new learning, time with friends, down time, and amazing food. I loved Mar de Jade and the history. Lila and Katie's instruction is master-level and I have my 70-year old mom doing the class every day now!
