About this trip

Join us for an unforgettable adventure in Namibia, where animal studies students can immerse themselves in the thrilling world of wildlife and rural veterinary medicine, gaining hands-on experience in a diverse range of veterinary practices while making a real impact on conservation and local communities.

Dive into groundbreaking rabies research with rhinos, one of Africa’s most iconic and endangered species. You’ll go behind the scenes in the critical work of rhino dehorning and tracking, with an incredible opportunity to learn dart gun operations. You’ll receive practical lessons from experts in this invaluable tool for wildlife vets, gaining crucial skills for working with wildlife in the field. Master tranquiliser darting techniques and gain insights into how these methods help protect rhinos and other endangered species from poaching.

Beyond rhinos, you’ll be actively involved in the health and wellbeing of domestic animals and livestock in local communities. Participate in sterilisation days, assist with vaccinations, wellness checks, and emergency care, making a tangible difference in improving the lives of animals and the health of rural communities.

No trip to Namibia would be complete without a visit to Etosha National Park, where you’ll have the chance to see the "Big 4" in their natural habitat – lions, elephants, leopards, and rhino. Explore the park’s stunning landscapes, from its vast salt pans to lush waterholes, and marvel at the diverse wildlife that calls Etosha home.

For those looking to experience even more of Namibia’s incredible biodiversity, you can opt to join a conservation-based trip to track and study the elusive pangolin – one of the world’s most endangered species. Alternatively, embark on a tourism journey to explore Namibia’s breathtaking deserts, rugged landscapes, and awe-inspiring wildlife.

This is more than just an educational trip – it’s an opportunity to gain real-world veterinary skills, contribute to critical conservation efforts, and make lasting memories in one of Africa’s most captivating destinations. Whether you’re looking to expand your veterinary expertise or explore the wild beauty of Namibia, this experience offers it all.
