About this trip

Join us for an 8 day guided car caravan tour of music’s southern roots

Country, Rock ‘n Roll, the Blues, and Jazz… the American South has produced some of the world’s most iconic styles of music as well some of its most iconic hitmakers like Hank Williams, Louis Armstrong, and, of course, the King himself, Elvis.

Let’s go explore all the rich musical history of cities like Nashville, Memphis, and New Orleans!

Join us in Nashville as we journey through Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana along portions of the famed “Blues Trail” in search of the mythical songs of the South.

Like some of our other tours, this trip is done in a “car caravan” style… Guests bring whatever they’d like to drive to the starting point (car, truck, SUV, rental, etc.) and travel in a caravan of about 15 cars from destination to destination.

For the better part of a decade, Two Lane America has been on the road in some capacity with Route 66 always being a cornerstone of our travels. Austin Coop, founder and lead tour guide, has personally traversed the 2,400+ miles of Route 66 dozens and dozens of times. His love for the Mother Road led to lifelong friendships and partnerships with the small businesses and funky roadside attractions along the way.

We had an amazing time traveling Route 66 with Austin and the group. Accommodations were very comfortable and varied. Enjoyed each of the stops and meeting all of the fine people along the way and getting to know the members of our group better. We liked having plenty of scheduled activities and stops, but also appreciated time on our own. Food was great! We could not have asked for a better tour guide! Austin provided thorough information about the sites we were visiting, suggestions for additional restaurants, and activities we might enjoy on our own. Plus, he had the patience of Job! 🤗

Great trip, by doing a caravan, we met great people and enjoyed all the stops and driving Route 66. Austin is the greatest tour guide, not only leading us to the the museums and stations and attractions along Route 66 but also letting you know all of the traffic merging ahead of us, coming behind us in our blind spots. All of this while driving the lead car. At every stop he had water and snacks in the back of his van. Food and accommodations were good and Austin took care of any problem with accommodations. Every overnight stay there were plenty of recommendations of where to eat when not part of the tour. We enjoyed the tour so much with Austin that we signed up for a New England tour in 2025 as soon as we got home. Any tour with Two Lane America is highly recommended, you won't be disappointed.

Route 66, a true American icon and an incredible 13-day journey brought alive by Austin Coop and Two Lane America. Austin (Two Lane America founder and our travel guide in the lead-car) led the Caravan on an amazing journey down Route 66, providing stops at timeless points of interest along the way, while expertly guiding us past spots on the route that were lost to years of disuse and neglect. His endless knowledge of Route 66 provided an insightful narration along the way and tidbits of information that would have been lost in guidebooks. I can’t believe the days passed so quickly, Austin expertly mixed time on the road with well planned stops to provide rest from the road; but more importantly, insights into the “Mother Road” both its past and future. An unforgettable journey, and we are looking forward to our next discovery of America’s two-lane roads with Austin on a new adventure in the future.

Excellent time on the road with Austin for two weeks. Austin is an outstanding guide with safety on the road being his priority. He made the trip so easy with regular communication with the group through WhatsApp (GPS directions throughout the day) and walkie talkies (which provided both valuable area information and road alerts). Honestly not sure how one would navigate Route 66 on their own to get such a well rounded, full experience of what the Mother Road has to offer. You can tell from the Welcome Dinner to the Farewell Dinner Austin genuinely both loves what he does and the people who travel with him. Do not pass up this opportunity to take this trip; you will soon find out the cost of the trip is a great investment for your travel memories!
