About this trip

Experience an Old Fashioned Christmas at Mike's Farm in Beulaville.  An hour and a half drive, takes us to a successful Agri-Tourism family run farm.  Mike's Farm hosts events throughout the year with the Festival of Lights Hayride being the most popular.  This event is so popular that it took me a day and a half when they put tickets on sale to get through to the ticket office!   The evening features a 30-minute hayride accompanied by Christmas music, miles of lighted Holiday scenes and a live nativity.  We begin the the evening with time to browse the gift shop known to have some of the most unique Christmas gifts and largest collection of "Yankee Candles" in the region.  Next up, is a delicious home-cooked meal served family style.  The mac and cheese is a guest favorite.  Some claim it to be the best ever made with a secret ingredient. *Please note that alcohol is not served at Mike's Farm but you are welcome to bring along a cocktail, beer or wine on the bus for the trip there or back.  End the night with the hayride and then travel back to Compass Pointe with memories of an old fashioned festive evening "dancing in your head."

I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!

The weather wasn’t very nice to us, but we made the best of our time in Greenville. The Hamilton show was certainly the highlight, but there are so many things in Greenville to see and do. The winery stop on the way home was a lovely bonus.
