About this trip

There aren’t too many places in the world more beautiful than those you’ll visit on a South Pacific island cruise. Soak up the white sands, the pristine beaches, and the tropical paradises that only South Pacific cruises can deliver. Make memories that will last forever as you scuba dive in pristine waters, take in the local culture, and relax at any of our South Pacific cruise destinations.

See iconic and awe-inspiring landscapes like Bora Bora’s verdant Mount Otemanu, jutting 2,400 feet above turquoise waters, and discover an extraordinary undersea world of whales and dolphins, manta rays and sea turtles, sharks and vast schools of colorful fish.

The Gauguin, designed specifically to glide in luxury through the shallow seas of the South Pacificis a small-ship cruiser’s dream - only 330 passengers on board. Crew-to-Guest Ratio: 1:1.5, one of the highest of any luxury cruise ship.

She delivers travelers to intimate ports inaccessible to larger cruise ships, all the while providing a travel experience that is nothing short of luxurious. Once on board, guests enjoy newly-decorated spacious suites and staterooms (nearly 70% with private balconies), an onboard watersports marina, three dining venues, an extensive spa, and five-star service. Life on The Gauguin also reflects the beauty and rich cultural heritage of the islands she calls upon, with a warm, friendly feel, informal setting, and even a beloved troupe of Les Gauguin and Les Gauguines—local Tahitians who serve as onboard hosts and hostesses, entertainers, and storytellers.

Society Islands, Cook Islands, Tonga & Fiji Tahiti, Society Islands - Lautoka, Viti Levu Island

Discover the South Pacific’s most storied, beautiful, and culturally vibrant islands, towns, and cities over the course of 14* unhurried nights. No matter what kind of experience you seek, from soaking in the sun on the Society Islands’ white-sand beaches to immersing yourself in the unique cultures of Fiji and Tonga, when you follow in the wake of the world’s most famous explorers in the South Pacific, there are treasures to discover at every port.

Highlights

  • Two separate Fijian ports showcase an intriguing juxtaposition: the sophisticated capital city of Suva and the unspoiled beauty of Savusavu, called the “Hidden Paradise of Fiji.”
  • You’ll want to pack your snorkeling gear for your visit to tiny Beqa Island. It’s surrounded by one of the largest barrier reefs in the world, where at high tide, you’ll see an abundance of tropical fish and beautiful coral blooms.
  • Live the life idyllic with a memorable day on Motu Mahana, our own private slice of paradise. On this exclusive islet, treat yourself to sand between your toes, the shade of swaying palm trees, a sumptuous barbeque lunch, and, of course, drinks sipped from coconuts.

*A traveler crossing the International Date Line eastbound subtracts one day, or 24 hours, so that the calendar date to the west of the line is repeated after the following midnight. Crossing the International Date Line westbound results in 24 hours being added, advancing the calendar date by one day.

Cabo was amazing. Not because of the city, but because of the wonderful group of people that went on the trip. I made friends I know I will have forever and some that you just know you will see again on the next adventure and can't wait for it. Thank you, Tricia, for a great trip, your enthusiasm, professionalism and kindness are top notch. You're the best!!

This was such a relaxing trip! Everything was right there and I didn't need to plan anything. The resort was great with everything included and plenty of activities to do or not. We spent one afternoon in town and then on a fabulous boat trip around the arch and even did some swimming off the boat. Tricia did an amazing job of organizing this boat trip. This get-away was just what I needed!

This trip was a combined trip with the Australia trip for me. So much beauty in NZ. The mountains and volcanoes, the wineries, the people, and great food made this another fantastic trip with Alt Esc. Tricia puts together excellent itineraries and has a great group of people who travel with her. Highly recommend.

Just returned from another fantastic trip with Alt Esc. Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge at sunset, and seeing a show at the Sydney Opera House were a few of my favorite things for this trip, as well as holding a koala for a photo, petting a kangaroo, and watching the smallest penguins in the world cross the beach at sunset. Oh, and the whale watch! So much fun & made new friends.

I just got back from Alt-Esc Antartica trip aboard the UM Ushuaia. I loved it. Also loved the pre trip to Buenos Aires and Ushuaia. I’d like to stay in Ushuaia longer next time. WHAT a landscape!! Holy cow. The trip was well organized, I got exactly what I paid for. I’ve travelled A LOT and there are other groups that are disorganized, end up with out enough rooms, have too many people, are are a bit of a mess. Alt-Esc is organized and you get exactly what you pay for. I love it!! I’ve now done 3 trips and I’ve signed up for two more!! Thank you Alt-Esc. I work too much and your trips really recharge me!!
