About this trip

Aconcagua Day Hike – Confluencia Base Camp Adventure
Season: November 15 – Mid-April

Set off on an exciting journey to the Confluencia Base Camp, nestled on the slopes of Mount Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the Americas. This unforgettable day hike is ideal for those visiting Mendoza who want a taste of the iconic Aconcagua expedition.

What to Expect
Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your accommodation, followed by a scenic drive deep into the Central Andes. Enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and the towering Tupungato Volcano along the way. You’ll pass through picturesque Andean villages and make a stop at the famous Puente del Inca, a stunning natural rock bridge with vibrant mineral deposits.

Highlights of the Tour
Upon entering Aconcagua Provincial Park, we’ll trek along the Horcones Valley trail, following in the footsteps of mountaineers heading towards the summit via the Normal Route. The imposing South Face of Aconcagua will be in full view as we hike for about three hours, reaching Confluencia Camp at 3,400 meters. Here, you’ll enjoy a packed lunch while taking in the spectacular mountain vistas and experiencing the lively atmosphere of this base camp, where climbers prepare for their ascent.

The return hike offers a peaceful opportunity to soak in the beauty of the Andes.

Tough but rewarding hike! I was lucky to experience this a snow trip due to weather conditions in weeks before my trip - otherwise usually more of a standard hike. Great views of Potrerillos lake from the top of the too of Aranales mountain. Peak is about 3,500m and the elevation change is substantial. I would recommend staying in Mendoza for several days beforehand and exercising a bit to get used to higher elevation (town has elevation of ~1,000m). Bring paracetamol in case of headaches caused by altitude sickness.

The trip was according to the description of the agency, the attention of the monitor was focused on my personal experience, which is priceless. I hope to come back and program new routes with the team!
