• Visit and celebrate Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Agatha (TBC), the patron saint and protector of Catania. 
• Visit the Monastery of Saint Nicola, followed by a walking tour of Catania, including a visit to Piazza del Duomo and the city’s most memorable monument, the Fontana dell’Elefante (Elephant Fountain). 
• Return to Taormina.

• Morning excursion towards the most imposing of all European volcanoes, Mount Etna. Mount Etna sits above two tectonic plates that divide juxtaposing continents: the African Plate and the Eurasian Plate. It's the tallest active volcano in Europe reaching almost 11,000 feet into the sky and is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Ironically, some of the most beautiful places in the world sit within its deadly reach.
• Return to Taormina for tour of the city to include Greek Theatre, Church of St. Pancrazio, shrine of Madonna della Rocca where we celebrate Mass (TBC), upper town.

• Check out of hotel to begin journey to Sciacca. 
• Lunch with wine tasting at vineyard. 
• Stop in Agrigento, one of the most popular tourist resorts in Sicily, and an internationally celebrated archaeological, architectural and artistic center to visit the famous Valley of the Temples, including the largest Doric temple in the world, the Temple of Jupiter. Conclude the day at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Catena with Mass (TBC), then on to Sciacca.

• Visit the hill-top town of Monreale, renowned for its Arab-flavored cathedral, blending Byzantine, Arab, Jewish, Gothic, and Norman traditions, heritage, and art. Tour the cathedral's interior of glittering, golden mosaics as well as the story-telling columns of the cloister; Mass at Cathedral (TBC).
• Precede to Palermo, Sicily’s main port, nestled in the middle of a wide bay. At one time, it was the favored haunt of writers, poets and artists, seduced by its esoteric beauty. Palermo manages to hang on to its essential fascination, drawing its personality from the peoples who have populated its streets over the ages –Byzantine, Arab, Norman and others –who have left their indelible mark not only in the form of a rich artistic heritage but in the very vital rhythm of life in the city.

• Visit the Cathedral and the Royal Palace (Palazzo dei Normanni) with the Palatine Chapel, considered one of the best monuments of Norman art in the Sicilian capital. Visit to Mount Pellegrino (Pilgrims’ Mountain) and Saint Rosalie Shrine. Mount Pellegrino offers a panoramic view of Palermo and the Sea but it is most famous for the Sanctuary of Saint Rosalie. This medieval Saint sought a hermit’s life on Mount Pellegrino and many miracles were attributed to her. Here we celebrate Mass (TBC)..

• Checkout from hotel and transfer to airport for flight to Rome.
• Arrival in Rome celebrating the Jubilee Year of Grace 2025.
• Mass upon arrival at St Paul Basilica Outside the Walls marking the martyrdom place of St Paul.; walk through the Holy Door (TBC).
• Drive by Colosseum, Forum, Palatine Hill.
• Time permitting, visit to St. John Lateran to pass through the Holy Door for Jubilee Year 2025.
• Check into your hotel.

This is an active itinerary that requires about 15,000 steps walking each day, sometimes on uneven surfaces, including stairs. Begin to prepare through a daily walking program. 

As a pilgrimage, we will commit ourselves to working together to cooperate and support one another, realizing that different foods, cultures, and experiences are why we are traveling! The unexpected is God's way of sharing with us something (or someone) we otherwise would not have encountered.  Be ready to travel in patience and trust. 

Quoted prices are based on payment by check. An additional 1% + 30¢ online processing fee is charged for all online transactions, with an additional 2.9% (Visa, Mastercard) to 3.9% (American Express) service charge for credit/debit card payments. There is no online processing fee nor service charge for registrations (or subsequent payments) mailed directly to Cloverdale Travel with payment by check. Please note that payments by check are typically processed once a week on Saturdays. You do hereby authorize all charges as outlined in the payment plan and Terms and Condition/Terms of Service. 

Flights offered with this trip are Group Air Reservations.  Final pricing will be available April 2024.  All seating assignments are made by the airline. If you have very specific needs regarding seating and flight accommodations, you should make your own flight arrangements and book the pilgrimage without adding air.  Switches from Land with Air to Land only after booking incur a $100 fee. 

Individual deposits are refundable except for a $500/person handling fee for cancellations made 90 days or more prior to departure. 

For cancellations 90 to 60 days prior to departure, you will be refunded everything except your initial deposit ($1000). 

If you cancel the trip within 60 days of departure, all payments are non-refundable. 

Unused portions of the trip are non-refundable. 

Cloverdale Travel cannot refund credit card/bank fees, nor refund money paid for travel protection/insurance.

Trip cancellation/protection plan is optional, but highly encouraged. Travel protections plans are available through Travelex, or through your own carrier. A link to Travelex will be included in your confirmation/registration email.  If you decline to purchase travel protection/insurance, you assume all financial liability for losses that might have been covered by appropriate travel insurance/protection.

Please email a copy of your passport picture page to info@cloverdaletravel.org. Passports must be valid for 6 months after our return date. 

Beginning in January 2025, the European Union is requiring travel authorization (ETIAS) to enter most European countries. This permission is different from a residence permit or visa, is obtained online, and is good for three (3) years (or until your passport expires). Please note that pricing is based on 80 pilgrims and based on an exchange rate of $1= € 1.15. Prices may be adjusted based on fewer than 80 pilgrims, a higher exchange rate, or increases in taxes and fuel surcharges.
