PRITHVI is Sanskrit for Earth.
The Earth Element shows up as the solid foundation in our lives. To help us remain stable in times of transitions. To remember that personal care is how we remain steady in self.
This is the perfect retreat for nature enthusiasts. Sprinkled through the week will be different hiking destinations to disconnect and be one with natural surrounding beauty. From the local hike at the end of the playa, to Mombacho that is a rich jungle setting with a coffee plantation, to Ometepe and hiking to the base of a volcano to experience a waterfall that somehow always seems to have the right lighting for a rainbow to be reflected onto the rocks.
Other activities of the week include daily yoga flows, eating out to support local businesses, cold plunge to rejuvenate, optional horseback riding, beach bonfire, connecting and laughing with the community, and so much more. You'll just have to come out and experience the magic of this truly beautiful country for yourself.
Equipped with a sparkling pool, WiFi, and A/C, you’ll be able to enjoy comfortable accommodations without losing the rustic touch that makes Gigante unique and travel so meaningful.
Yoga + healing sessions will be held between a tropical open space underneath our newly built grand palapa and a cliffside ocean view shala overlooking the bay just south of Playa Gigante.
There will be plenty of time to relax and unwind so feel free to take a moment to relax in one of our day beds or hammock, and appreciate the blue skies
Notably one of Nicaragua's most famous volcanoes, Mombacho is located just outside of Granada. In less than a 2 hr drive from the hotel, you'll find yourself immersed in hiking through cloud forests. After arriving to the nature reserve, the trip begins riding up steep side of the volcano with a locally provided shuttle (which is an adventure in itself). Once you arrive to the end of the road, there is a center that shows all the different options available. There are several different hikes to choose from, ranging in difficulty and duration, or even the option to do a coffee plantation tour if that is more your speed.
La Isla de Ometepe: A freshwater volcano island infused with wonder, magic, and folklore. The day starts traveling by ferry across Lake Nicaragua from the port town of San Jorge to arrive to the islands busiest town, Moyogalpa. A 3-4 hour roundtrip hike to the majestic San Ramon Waterfall will challenge your legs and amaze your eyes! The hike itself is a steady moderate climb with the last 20 min being a bit more difficult. Lunch will be pizza at the base of the waterfall: a true hikers trash dream come true meal.
To have our body feeling ready and grounded to be with nature, the daily yoga will be gentle and cater to where we work the body most when spending our day in full stride. These yoga sessions include mudras, meditation, journaling, and somatic healing techniques to have the nervous system feeling steady and stable as well.
AND the week starts off with a Virgo Full Moon! Talk about coming in with the strong, vibrant, and powerful Earth Energies!
We have a full-service restaurant + bar to prepare meals and beverages during this retreat. Enjoy fresh, locally-sourced ingredients with delicious options for all dietary needs and preferences.
Experience delicious tropical fruits, fresh caught fish, local produce, and a thoughtfully crafted menu to keep you satisfied.
A colorful fishing village off the beaten path, El Gigante is located just over an hour north of San Juan Del Sur on Nicaragua's beautiful Pacific Coast. The town is aptly named “big foot” when translated from Spanish to describe the gentle green foothills that meet the ocean with such ease. A town filled with untouched beaches, roaming farm animals, and dirt pathways; you’ll quickly remember the importance of slowing down and to embrace living simply.
The lifestyle and culture here very much embodies the phrase “Take it Easy”. Arriving here feels like taking one long exhale and a chance to just be.
A Texas native, spending the last 3 years abroad in Central America in serendipitous travels, and now calling Nicaragua home, Ashley found yoga as a senior in high school, and has been teaching for the past 6 years. She is Vinyasa 200 RYT certified with additional education such as Energetic Anatomy, Bhakti (devotional storytelling), and Foundations of Trauma Therapy. All of these trainings combined leave her teachings stylized as mindful movement from the heart and a poetic storytelling for the body. She believes in living fearlessly and compassionately, and gives credit to yoga for helping to continue to lead her on the right intuitive path.
