About this trip

Join us for a weekend of car-based camping, sitting around the fire, and swimming/floating in the river (for those willing to brave the chill), with amazing, supportive, body positive peeps, free from judgement, diet talk, or any expectation of fitness.

The location for this camping weekend is Longridge Park, on the banks of the Yarra River, in Warrandyte - basically the outer suburbs of Melbourne!  We are lucky enough to have the whole campsite booked for ourselves, in fact, its so popular, we have had to book it 6 months in advance!

The campsite has toilets and showers (showers may or may not be hot).  Please BYO drinking water.

You will need to have your own camping gear for this one.  But the best part is that you will be next to your car, so you can bring all the mattresses, doonas and pillows you desire!  You will need a tent, a sleeping mat/mattress, sleeping bag or doona, a camping chair, your food, something to eat with/on, and a way to cook it (if you want to cook it).  All these bits are available cheaply at Kmart or anaconda if you are just starting out, or if you prefer, we might have some bits you can borrow - shoot us a message at hello@escapingyourcomfortzone.com

The plan for this weekend is easy.  Set up your tent.  And relax!!!  Whether that's in a chair by the fire, or depending on how brave you are, floating on an inflatable unicorn in the river (BYO unicorn or any other inflatable device, and some rope if you want to tie yourself to a tree so you don't float away!), its up to you.   Warrandyte is nearby if you fancy a local explore, with great trails and cafes.

Is it for you? YES! I cannot stress enough this is VERY beginner friendly, or those just starting out. You don't need any level of fitness, there's plenty of downtime for naps, or heading down the road for coffee!  In fact the whole weekend is downtime!

What to Bring

- Tent

- Sleeping stuff (sleeping bag, doona or blankets - bring plenty if you get cold, and an inflatable mat or foam mattress to sleep on, don't forget a pillow)

- Food and snacks for meals other than those included (feel free to bring anything to share!)

- Esky/cooler (incl ice)

- Cooking stove (or use ours if you don't have one!)

- Plate/bowl/cutlery

- Camp chair - this is THE most important thing to remember, you will spend a lot of time in it, so make sure its comfy!

- Bug spray

- Sunscreen

- A book

- Earplugs in case you have a snorer in the tent next to yours

- Warm clothes for nighttime.  Most people have Oodies or similar to keep warm.

- Bring changes of clothes in case its raining.

- Raincoat or poncho if you have one.

- thongs/flip-flops for around camp and showers

- drinking water

Marquee/shelter if you have one, to share with the group if its raining

Bag of wood if you have access to a stash - there will be some there, but we ususally need a bit more than they provide

Firstly 10/10 for the amazing weather. The opportunity and range of walking was great. The food was healthy and tasty. The lodge was clean and comfortable and I enjoyed the company of all and felt included.

A fun and relaxed Portarlington winter weekend, good facilities at the holiday park, body positive camp buddies and every activity optional with no judgement. Good firepit kept us warm, conveniently located on the beach for a paddle in the kayak, also not far from tasty wood fired pizzas and pasta, also a bakery with barista coffee.

Loved having the chance to meet with like minded women who just wanted to get out there and do activities regardless of their Size. The weekend was a great mix of adventure, down time and float time. Richelle did a great job of arranging everything we needed for the weekend and making all feel welcomed. Looking forward to meeting up with some of the ladies in future.
