Climb a beautiful volcano in the North of Ecuador
Day 1. Our Private Quilotoa Hiking Day Tour will start from Quito at 07.00 am. Our private transportation will pick you up from your hotel and then Our first stop will be in one of the most folkloric markets existing in the Andes Saquisili market (if our trip is Thursday or Zumbahua market Saturdays). Those are authentic real markets where will be see from the sale of animals, a variety of colorful roses, Andean fruit, etc. During the journey to the Quilotoa volcano, our second stop will be in the Tigua community with an average altitude of 4,000msnm. This community stands out for its Andean legends surround paints and artists captured images of the beautiful mountainous landscape. A brief stop will make us relax our legs in the Toachi Canyon. The geological fault caused by the eruption of the majestic colossus. Once we reach the community of Quilotoa will begin our QUILOTOA HIKING. We will take a time for preparing our stuff to start our Private Quilotoa Hiking Day Tour around the andes mountains.

Papallacta natural hot springs
We start our tour making some stops on the way. If we’re lucky, we can see condors in the Rocky Mountains. This is one of the endangered species of the Andes Mountains. We will do another stop-over Cayambe Coca reserve where we will take a trail of the Andean bear (spectacled bear) (1-hour trekking optional).

How about a visit to the magnificent hot springs where the Andes meet the jungle? We can arrange anything from a few hours to a few days at this magical Andean source of relaxation and rejuvenation- Essential spa treatments available upon reservation. This is quite close to the new Quito airport and makes a good option for filling a few hours between flights without having to return to the city of Quito.

We had a great day with Kathy Rea horseback riding and hiking! The horse we rode were very well cared for and very domesticated. I can be a little skittish of horses but I never once felt like I was not in control. We saw wild horses, Andean fox, condors and many other beautiful birds. The horse back ride was a relaxing 1 hour and it was slow enough to really take in the beautiful Andean landscape. Then came the hike. We took the “hard” way up. It’s not an overly long hike but it’s a a pretty steep incline and the terrain is mostly gravel. Being “flat landers” the altitude was the hardest part. Kathy was very patient with us. We then had a lovely meal to finish the day!

From messaging about different options to booking through to a pululahua crater hike and then equator line museum it was great experience. A fabulous walk down into the crater (1 mile down) then two hilly hikes and back up to the rim. So glad we had messaged with Patricio before booking as he suggested the perfect trip for us. Lovely lunch provided. Marcial was a great guide plus a sweet dog we named Bobi who walked the whole day with us. Then we went to the equator line museum which was informative and fun. Would totally recommend
