About this trip

Puglia Walking Adventure  -

This guided walking tour starts in the Unesco City of Matera (Basilicata region) , in the Murgia area and across the Valle d’Itria will take you to discover the heart of Puglia. Starting from the “Sassi” city to the typical village of Alberobello and its Trulli, and ending at the Adriatic Sea with its charming villages such as Polignano a Mare and Monopoli.

Leisurely pace - 4-6 miles per day

This walking holiday, at a leisurely pace and in the company of our local English-speaking guide and our BikesPlus experienced tour leader, is a combination of rolling hills, trulli (stone houses with conical roofs), dry stone walls, expanses of olive groves, white villages and sea inlets with unique beaches.

Gastronomic Specialities

What makes this trip even more special will be the encounter with Apulian gastronomic specialties: don’t miss the delicious Bombette (a traditional Italian recipe of pork and cheese cooked over a fire), traditional vegetables, orecchiette (typical fresh pasta in the shape of ears), focaccia, panzerotti, extra virgin olive oil, wine, cold cuts and cheese, essential flavors to get to know this wonderful corner of Apulia in depth.

My husband and I spent two weeks Vienna and stayed at the Hotel Kaiserhof. We loved this hotel and highly recommend it. Our room was spacious (a superior king room), comfortable, quiet, clean. Kaiserhof provided lots of amenities—complimentary drinks, a clothesline in the shower (helpful for our longer stay), umbrella, and more. We could even request extra pillows to fit our sleeping habits! We loved that it was “green” and that it provided glass bottles in the room to fill with the great Vienna tap water: no plastic water bottles needed on this trip. Breakfast was amazing—suiting all sorts of preferences—and we could order Viennese specialty coffees every morning. The staff was extremely professional and helpful. We loved the location, just a couple of streets outside the Innere Stadt (the busy tourist center). That meant that the hotel was very quiet (situated on a side street) but still very central. We could walk almost everywhere, including to our evening music events. For longer trips, a main subway station (Karlsplatz) was just 5 minutes away. And lots of restaurant options nearby. Should we ever return to Vienna, we would definitely stay again at the Kaiserhof.

I had a great time, the accommodations were wonderful, guides were flexible knowledgeable and friendly. My only recommendation would be to provide more explanations/information in the original itinerary, I thought we would hike maybe three days and would have more other activities the other days, the train ride was great.

We had a wonderful time. The Daffodil Parade was great. We visited a lot of different places, and were kept busy. Accommodations were were very good. The bus was clean and comfortable, and the bus driver a hoot! Nancy was very friendly and knowledgeable. Definetely would go on another trip with her.

We thought we'd try a bus trip to see if we liked it. The trip was sold out. The bus was comfortable and the driver was amazing especially navigating side streets on the journey. Nancy did a great job setting up the trip. The hotel was in a state of construction but the rooms were very nice. It was nice to visit Nantucket again. It was crowded because of the festival but we enjoyed the island. In the future we may take another bus trip.
