About this trip

Pumas and Birds of Patagonia is one of our most comprehensive wildlife programs, aimed to discover the rich biodiversity of the remote areas of southern Chile.

During trip we will have two full days (with four sessions) to look and photograph Patagonian Pumas, in the stunning area of Torres del Paine National Park and Estancia Laguna Amarga. In addition to that, we offer a very comprehensive birding itinerary, in order to see most of the Patagonian bird specialties: from King Penguins and Andean Condors to Magellanic Plover and Magellanic Woodpecker, among several other unique species.

On this week itinerary, we will cover a variety of productive birding habitats, including wind-swept steppes, alkaline lakes and lagoons, channels and fjords, subantarctic woodlands and dramatic mountain regions, all encompassing a fascinating cast of birds and mammals.

Besides the charismatic Puma, other mammals will be possible to observe and photograph during this trip, including Guanaco, Southern Huemul, Culpeo and Chilla Foxes, Large Hairy Armadillo, Hog-nosed Skunk, Commerson’s and Peale’s Dolphins, among others.

Join us in 2023, on this fascinating journey to the dazzling regions of Chilean Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego to discover its best wildlife, traveling in a small group and enjoying the leadership and skills of our experienced guides.

It was a very worthwhile trip, I did have a good and interesting time. The guides Pato and Diego, and tracker Marcial were very competent and communicative. Thanks to them we could see different puma's in several situations, which was very interesting. We also went birdwatching, had lunch at beautiful places (Lake Pehoe, Torres, ...) and made small walks f.ex. at Lago Azul. Our stay at the estancia was nice, cosy rooms, a typical interior, and good food. Very happy with this experience !!!

Very good organization all along this very special trip. Guides and tracker were both professionnal and friendly. We did see pumas, sometimes at close range. Food and lodging was good.

We the most amazing trip to Southern Chile and Patagonia. Each day brought another surprise, adventure and breathtaking scenery. Our guide Nico made the trip extra special with his intimate knowledge of the places, birds, people and his sense of humour. Our ability to photograph pumas was unrivalled. Another surprise was our last day trip to Estancia Humedal Vega Castillo which brought us more lifers and an amazing lunch! Would recommend this trip to everyone who loves outdoors and wildlife.
