The Jondachi and Hollin rivers are located on the edge of Ecuador’s Sumaco National Park. The park preserves the unique vegetation indigenous to the tropical Amazon rainforest as well crystal clear waters and fast rapids. This is an ideal place to ride the white waters of the Amazon!
At 8:30am, depart from Akangau Jungle Expeditions by private car to the community of Mondayacu, Archidona, which is about 30 minutes away.
This rafting adventure begins with an incredible hike through the jungle to reach the shores of the Jondachi River. This rafting trip is unique because the people of the community will have the boats ready but rafters must bring their vests, helmets and rowing equipment. Akangau Jungle Expeditions provides all necessary gear.
Upon arrival to the river’s edge, our expert rafting guides will give a thorough orientation on rafting safety, rowing techniques and any other information needed to ensure a fun and safe adventure.
The river cuts through the lush Amazon jungle and is surrounded by waterfalls, tributaries, canyon and green, green and more green! The beginning portion of this trip has some fun big rapids to get the adrenaline rushing.
Along the way, the rafts make a stop at a river beach for lunch, which is provided by Akangau Jungle Expeditions.
Finish off the day by rafting down the swift waters of the Hollin River. This ride is exhilarating and makes for an exciting way to end your adventure.
The journey ends at the Santo Domingo bridge where a vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Tena.
