Join Blue Planet as we explore some of the best diving in the world in the mega-diverse Raja Ampat region. The trip will visit muck sites, oceanic and inshore reefs from the comfort and convenience of an intimate liveaboard. Don't wait -- this trip will fill up fast!
Raja Ampat
Raja Ampat is on every diver's bucket list. In the heart of the Coral Triangle, it is home to more than 1400 species of fish and almost 600 different corals - 75 percent of all known coral species.
Raja Ampat, which means “Four Kings”, is located in the West Papua province of eastern Indonesia. The ‘four kings’ are the islands Misool, Batanta, Waigeo and Salawati but the area is actually made up hundreds of islands, some inhabited and many not. Raja Ampat is remote and offers some of Indonesia’s most pristine reefs and breathtaking scenery.
The Diving
Minimum dive certification/experience: Advanced Open Water is required, as some locations will be below 18m and we can experience strong currents.
The dive sites here are all about diversity and abundance. Whether you’re looking to dive with pelagics or critters, Raja Ampat will deliver. Highlights include: large schools of fish, manta rays, reef sharks, wobbegong sharks, walking sharks, turtles, Spanish mackerel, tuna, barracuda, pygmy sea horses, nudibranchs galore, ghost pipefish, cuttlefish, crustaceans and stunning pristine coral reefs.
Some dives are planned for slack tide, while occasionally the current can be challenging. Fortunately, the stronger currents also generally made for better visibility, blooming corals, and greater fish activity.
Raja Ampat Aggressor
The Raja Ampat Aggressor is a 100’ steel ship. Built and powered for comfort, safety and stability, she cruises at 8 knots and has 220-volt power onboard. Accommodations include 3 Master staterooms with queen bed (including 2 with a twin bunk bed) and 5 Deluxe with 2 twin beds in an L shape. All staterooms have port holes or picture windows, climate controls, TV’s with movies and private bathrooms.
The Raja Ampat Aggressor sleeps 16 guests in privacy and comfort. She features a roomy, air-conditioned salon and dining area, and shaded sun deck complete with lounge and deck chairs. There is also a TV/Media player in the main salon. Diving amenities include Nitrox, camera table, and fresh water showers. There are no 110v outlets in the staterooms, only in the large station.

We'd take a short flight from Sorong to Manado on February 11th once we disembark from the liveaboard. Then we can depart Saturday, February 15th and still make it home by Sunday! There even happens to be a Scoot (subsidiary of Singapore Airlines) flight from Manado to Singapore on Saturdays so we could skip flying through Bali or Jakarta, which can save some time.
We'll board the boat in Sorong around noon and depart for our journey at 4 PM.
