Throughout the retreat, enjoy 6 guided yoga practices. Below is what you can expect.
Elemental Flow with Gaby (Thursday Evening & Saturday Morning)
A slow, nourishing vinyasa to inspire embodied awareness and self-discovery. Using Ayurvedic principles and somatic practices, you can expect a grounded yet dynamic flow of breath and body unfolding in presence. Practice blends together intention, asana, pranayama, kriya, mudra and mantra with alignment principles woven throughout. All levels welcome with variations offered to explore your personal practice.
Strength & Mobility with Jenn (Friday Morning)
A delightful challenge for the brain and body, this is an all levels class that integrates creative exercises and movements, as well as yoga poses, to isolate different muscles, parts of the body, and their functions, all in the context of yoga by moving toward one “apex” pose.
Restorative Yoga & Nidra & Sound Bath with Gaby (Friday Evening)
Enjoy a deeply nourishing practice of gentle yoga poses, longer holds, supported by props and bolsters. Allow yourself to melt into a place of relaxation and ease. We'll transition this practice into a guided yoga nidra with the accompaniment of the Himalayan singing bowls.
Yin & Fascia with Jenn (Saturday Evening)
A grounding/relaxing practice with passive Yin poses done in stillness; combined with exploration of self-massage techniques using lacrosse balls to re-hydrate/release fascia (connective tissue) and bound up muscles.
Yin Flow with Jenn (Sunday Morning)
An introspective practice of moving slowly through a combination of poses to gently warm up the body, then holding passive, on-the-ground Yin poses in stillness.
Enjoy nourishing Ayurveda-inspired meals cooked by former restaurant owner and chef, Joy Vargo. Meals will follow Ayurvedic guidelines that support wellness and grounding—appropriate for the spring season. Organic ingredients will be used whenever possible, and complete protein options will be available at each meal.
Prepare to be nourished from Thursday evening dinner, thru Sunday morning brunch:
- 3 meals on full retreat days (Friday and Saturday)
- Welcome Dinner on Thursday evening
- Goodbye Breakfast on Sunday morning
- Snacks & warm beverages provided throughout
Jenn Choi Bemis Bio
I took my first yoga class in college in 2005, but it wasn't until 2008 that I became obsessed with hot yoga. The physical, athletic aspect of asana is what drew me in, but I started to learn that there is much more to yoga than the exercise aspect. I dove deep into the scriptures, stories, and the philosophy of yoga, and it started to unlock a path to a deeper understanding of myself; helped me identify my core values; and began to shape who and how I wanted to Be in this world.
I truly believe that the practice of yoga is a gracious opportunity to cultivate awareness—in our bodies as well as in our hearts and minds—so that we can manifest practices of mindfulness, compassion, patience, humility, and Love off of our mats, in our daily lives. I have studied with various teachers in different schools of yoga including Anusara, Vinyasa, other Hatha forms, Yin, and yoga therapeutics. Most recently, my fascination with the human body and biomechanics has led me to study the fascial system and functional movement (mobility and strength training). My classes are laden with precise alignment cues interwoven within creative, mindful, intentional sequences—all the while keeping and respecting the tradition of classical yoga whenever possible.
My classes are infused with detailed alignment cues and intentional sequencing; a combination of traditional yoga postures and new, explorative approaches of isolated movements/exercises to achieve mobility (flexibility and strength) and body awareness—all packaged within a fun, safe, and thought-provoking environment.
