Retreat Tribe

Mary Susan Stults

Southern Utah native Mary Susan Stults has been practicing Yoga for over 20 years since she was a young teen, surfing for 18 years, and paddling for over 7 years now. Mary Susan, an avid nature lover, grew up exploring the many hiking trails, rivers, rocks, mountains, canyons, and the endless outdoor beauty of Utah and Colorado with her friends and family. Despite growing up landlocked Mary grew up a deep love and appreciation for the ocean and water and that passion has only grown with each passing year.

After moving to Boulder, Colorado to attend the University of Colorado-Boulder, she has made Colorado her home for over 16 years. You can often find this nature lover hiking or biking on a trail, paddling, surfing, practicing yoga on the water, camping in the mountains or desert, or exploring her yoga practice outdoors.

An absolute people person, Mary has taught Yoga for adults, all-ages, family, adaptive, tweens, teens, kids, and tots for over 6 years, and is a certified 1000+HR RYT Yoga & Meditation teacher, a WPA/Paddle Into Fitness Certified Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) and SUP Yoga teacher, certified Kids Yoga teacher, certified Adaptive Yoga teacher, and is known by all for her enthusiasm and positive outlook. Many describe her energy as contagious, finding her nurturing and patient style of teaching to be welcoming and supportive. She infuses her Yoga, SUP, and SUP Yoga classes, workshops, and retreats with her grounded yet light-hearted nature. For Mary, being a student of the practice of yoga is as important as being a teacher. When she is not working and teaching herself you can often find her in a teacher training or yoga intensive somewhere around the world with her forever teacher, Maty Ezraty with whom she has completed over 600+ hours of formal training. She hopes to help others delve into what it means to live well physically, mentally, and spiritually, by exploring and developing their own yoga practice, and translating the joy, strength, confidence, mindfulness, balance, and grace that we find on the mat, into our lives off the mat!

Mary Susan teaches Yoga, SUP, SUP Yoga, and Meditation for Amana Yoga Studio in Boulder, The Sol Shine in Denver, Altitude Paddleboards in Denver, Rocky Mountain Paddleboard, Urban Peak Shelter in Denver, and for her company’s, Float & Flow Yoga & SUP, and Adventure Yoga For Kids throughout Denver, Boulder, and beyond. Mary Susan leads adventure Yoga-SUP-Surfing retreats in Colorado, Mexico, Costa Rica, Aruba, Nicaragua, Hawaii, and will be adding retreats in more locations around the world over the years to come.

She leads AYFK Kids Yoga Teacher Trainings several times a year through her company Adventure Yoga For Kids, and will be offering SUP & SUP Yoga Teacher Trainings through her company Float & Flow Yoga & SUP beginning in 2017. She also offers Yoga, Meditation, SUP, and SUP Yoga privates, small-group classes, corporate yoga classes, school groups, workshops, trainings, and events nationally and internationally.

She wholeheartedly believes that Yoga, Meditation, and Stand Up Paddleboarding are for everybody, and is passionate about sharing these gifts, as well as her love of nature, adventure, and the outdoors with all ages.

I had an amazing time at this retreat. It was my first retreat experience, and I'm so glad I did this with Mary as the guide. She really knows her way around the location, and goes to every effort to make it a great time for everyone. I learned a lot in group activities, and also had flexibility to explore on my own.

Our adventures in Estes Park, CO were amazing. Not on the scenery was fantastic but the food, hiking, group of women were outstanding. Mary is an excellent SUP yoga instructor and I love that she is always up for an adventure. Mary always had breakfast ready in the morning and was always working with the group to best find the perfect flow of activities for the day. I loved that she allowed us to have flexibility in what we wanted to do. Our group was a bit disappointed in the accommodations for this trip but Mary did her best to accommodate and refund us some money for the inconvenience. I look forward to future yoga retreats with old and new friends.

This trip was WONDERFUL! Telluride is such a beautiful place and Mary orchestrated such a beautiful retreat for us! We did yoga, went on hikes, did stand up paddle boarding at a gorgeous lake in the mountains, and just had a blast. Our condos were beautiful and breakfast was made for us every morning. The Yoga Writing Workshop was fantastic, and so were the meditations. Mary has a gift and I would recommend one of these retreats to ALL women. It was a much needed getaway. I can't wait to do another!

While Telluride was beautiful and we had an amazing trip, it wasn't without some hiccups that could have been avoided had there been better planning and a smaller group. We very much enjoyed the yoga practice (both on & off the water), but we never hiked with the group. The schedule and means for communicating said schedule often changed and we were trying not to be tied to technology. While the accomodations were lovely, our condo was quite small for 4 adult women. We shared one small bathroom and two of us were required to sleep in bunk beds built into the walls (probably better suited for children) in the hallway. Not enough space for us to unpack for 5 days. Our saving grace was that we had an outdoor patio to retreat to. The main house where several of the women stayed was spacious and beautiful and because these ladies were together, I also believe they had a far different and more connected experience than we did. For the cost, the trip did not meet my expectations. With that said, I'd highly recommend for SUP yoga, but personally wouldn't book another destination excursion. I hope this is helpful feedback for future trip planning.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on a 10-day retreat in August 2023 with Mary that I can only describe as pure magic. The retreat set in the heart of the Mediterranean, was nothing short of a life-changing experience. From the moment I arrived in Barcelona, I knew I was in for something special. The retreat organizers had carefully curated every aspect of our journey, ensuring that we would not only explore the breathtaking beauty of Spain but also enrich our souls and create lasting memories. The luxurious accommodations in both Barcelona and Menorca set the tone for the entire trip. Waking up to the stunning Mediterranean views and enjoying delicious breakfasts each day made every morning feel like a dream. It was the perfect way to start our adventure-filled days. Speaking of adventure, there was certainly no shortage of it on this retreat. From stand-up paddleboarding in crystal clear waters to exploring the charming cobbled-stone lanes of Menorca's villages, every day was a new and exhilarating experience. I can still feel the thrill of the cliffside paddle and the giant SUP paddle adventures in Menorca. These moments allowed us to truly connect with the natural wonders. The cultural experiences were another highlight of the trip. From a mesmerizing Flamenco performance in Barcelona to visits to iconic landmarks like the Sagrada Familia and Parc Guell, I felt like I was living in a postcard. And the cooking lessons and painting workshop on Menorca added a creative touch that I'll always cherish. This retreat was a journey of a lifetime, offering a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and cultural immersion. It's an experience I'll forever hold close to my heart, and I'm grateful to have shared it with kindred spirits from around the world. If you're looking for a retreat that will awaken your senses, nurture your soul, and introduce you to the magic of Spain, I wholeheartedly recommend this unforgettable adventure. It truly was an enchanting and transformative experience.
