This is a unique experience that invites you to experience two cycling meccas in one unforgettable week’s cycling. We begin our experience in the spectacular city of San Sebastián in the Basque country to tackle the legendary mountain passes of ‘La vuelta a Espana’ and then onto the French Pyrenees where we will ride the mythical Pyrenean summits that have graced the Tour De France for more than a century. This two-in-one cycling adventure, should be on the bucket list of any serious cyclist. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect week’s cycling.

The first half of this experience, we base ourselves in the beautiful coastal town of San Sebastián and the gateway into the Basque country where cycling is part of the DNA. From our luxury hotel next to the famous ‘La concha’ beach - we set out to tackle some of the incredible punchy summits that surround this gorgeous town - including Iguelado, Basakabi & Puerto de Andazarrete.

Aside from the stunning cycling routes – this is a gastronomic delight for any serious foodie. We invite you to savour some of the culinary delights in the Pyrenees bistros and our favourite bars and restaurants of San Sebastián.

The second half of this adventure takes us into the Pyrenees mountains with arguably some of the best climbing in the world, with miles of epic never ending switchbacks and with less traffic, it offers the rider a more peaceful experience than the Alps further north. This epic challenge takes us to the heart of the Pyrenees to ride historic summits – including Col du Tourmalet, Col d’Aubisque & Col d’Aspin, following the pedal strokes of the legends of Tour de France folklore like Eddy Merckx, Fausto Coppi, Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, Greg Lemond and many more.

Without a doubt - this is one of our favourite trips and we cant wait to show you these epic climbs and some of the best food and wine in the world!

Arrival - San Sebastian
Welcome to Spain! Pick up at Bilbao airport and transfer to luxury accommodation in the heart of San Sebastian. Once settled in our accommodation - we invite you to stretch the legs & roll out for a coffee spin to whet your appetite and for you to get a feel for some Basque country riding.
We will reconvene in San Sebastian old town for some typical Basque pinxos.

Monte Igueldo
After a sumptuous Basque breakfast we head deep into the hills surrounding San Sebastian. As you would expect - we encounter some of these beautiful punchy climbs that are typical of the Basque landscape - the most famous of which being Monte Igueldo.
After some downtime in San Sebastian - we invite you to join us for dinner at our favourite Basque restaurant.

Monte Jaizkibel
Our last full day in the Spanish Basque Country takes us through some quintessential Basque scenery and up one of this regions famous climbs - Monte Jaizkibel. We will stop towards the end of our ride for some local Basque restaurant food and head back for our final dinner in this wonderful city of San Sebastián.

French Basque country
We say farewell to Spain and have an epic ride transfer over the border and into the French Basque country.
This section into France, could be one of the best rides of your life. The scenery is breath-taking and the climbs are unforgettable. We are heading to our base in the beautiful village of Saint Savin, Hautes-Pyrenees.
Once settled in - we will have dinner in our favourite local French restaurant

Col du Tourmalet / Col d’Aspin
After a typical French breakfast, we head up the world’s most famous bike climb - the Col du Tourmalet. A climb that really needs no introduction, a pilgrimage that all serious cyclists need to follow. We will also tackle a lesser known climb that has featured in many TdF stages - Col d’Aspin. This is our personal favourite.
After some local delicacies to refuel - we head back to our luxury hotel for some rest and relaxation before reconvening for dinner.

Col D'Aubisque
Another day, another Tour de France folklore climb. Today the Col D’Aubisque - one of the most beautiful climbs in the French Pyrenees. Nearly 30km of stunning switchbacks, with a total ascent of 1400m - what a way to end this perfect cycling Experience!
Time to return to the hotel for some well deserved rest.
Our last night will be a celebration with some of the finest French food & wine.

Great trip! The roads of Strade Bianche did not disappoint! Paul, Chippy and Phil were great support and kept us all on the right path. Great times with fun friends. Good food, wine and rides. Thanks for another terrific trip.

Wow--great cycling. Great organization, accommodations, and food. Warm swims in Lake Annecy and big climbs up Alpe d'Huez (particularly off the back side!) were epic memories. Thanks to Paul and Michale "Chippy" Chipchase for putting on this bonanza of summer goodness.

Girona Gravel was an amazing adventure. Everything from start to finish was world class. The routes were challenging and spectacular. The food was outrageously delicious and the hotels were first class. Nothing like starting a new day with a great breakfast, a clean bike and an extraordinary adventure waiting.
