Join us on this exciting 8 day/7 night guided tour in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We start with siteseeing and attractions in the Emerald City of Seattle then a journey across the Puget Sound to Olympic National Park, and a whale watching trip in the scenic San Juan Islands.
Departure is from Oakland Airport on September 8th with a return on September 15th. Travelers can join us from either one of our 2 convenient pick-up locations, in Marin County or Fairfield, California, or you can meet us at the Oakland Airport.
Day 2: Our first day in Seattle features a City Tour that takes us to many major highlights, including the iconic Space Needle where we take in some of the most amazing views on the West Coast. Then we visit Seattle Center and the Chihuly Art Gallery and Garden, one of best collections of glass art in the world. We head to bustling Pike’s Place Market, home to hundreds of artisans and purveyors of delectable treats from throughout the Northwest. We will also visit Pioneer Square, Seattle’s original neighborhood - now home to quaint shops and historic buildings that help to tell the story of this vibrant City. (B, D)
Day 3: Today we enjoy charming towns and evergreen forests east of the City on route to scenic Snoqualmie Falls. This beautiful 270 foot waterfall on the Snoqualmie River is one of Washington State’s most popular natural attractions. Then we head back to Seattle for a visit to the charming waterfront district of Ballard, known for trendy shops, cafes and bars. Here ships and salmon pass through the fascinating Ballard Locks. A highlight is the area’s Scandinavian culture on display at the Nordic Heritage Museum. (B, D)
Day 4: We make our way today out onto the water for a ferry trip across the Puget Sound, the intricate system of waterways and inlets that carve their way through the region to create the isthmus of Seattle and the natural wonderland of the Olympic Peninsula. We arrive on Bainbridge Island, then a short drive to the town of Poulsbo, known for its Scandinavian heritage and theme, and delicious treats. We continue to the town of Sequim and fantastic views of the waterfront and dramatic backdrop of the Olympic Mountains. (B, D)
Day 5: Olympic National Park is one of the country’s most spectacular, and unspoiled National Parks. Today’s adventure will bring us into the heart of this Park that spreads across several ecosystems, from glacier-clad Mt. Olympus to a temperate rainforest and a pristine stretch of fog-shrouded coastline. We will stop at the Visitors Center, then drive to the area’s famous natural formation - Hurricane Ridge. Relax in the afternoon then dinner in Sequim. (B, D)
Day 6: This morning we head to the nearby port town of Port Townsend for a whale watching adventure in the San Juan Islands. Today’s journey promises to be one of our tour’s highlights as we set sail on a boat trip to some of the best wildlife viewing areas in the region. Our experienced crew will be on a quest to find great spots to view fantastic bird life, marine life, diverse geological formations and hopefully Orca whales, some of nature’s most beautiful animals, in their pristine habitat. We will arrive in picturesque Friday Harbor for lunch and a brief tour of this charming island town before re-boarding our boat for a trip back to the mainland at the harbor town of Anacortes. From there it is a short ride aboard our motorcoach for our base for the last 2 nights of the tour at the Tulalip Casino Resort, just North of Seattle. (B, D)
Day 7: Journey today to Everett, Washington, for a visit to the phenomenal Boeing Future of Flight Museum at the Boeing Factory. This is a highlight for anyone interested in the history or future of aircraft, which now includes space travel, sustainable fuels, and much more. Free time back in Tulalip to enjoy the resort’s attractions before our final night banquet dinner. (B, D)
Day 8: We return today to Sea-Tac Airport, for a relaxing flight back to the Bay Area, and a return home by late afternoon. (B)
