About this trip

Sister Sciences - a weekend  retreat in the red woods

Join Tulsi, Sera and Khristine for a weekend of nourishment, nature, learning, and community. The magic of these three women and what they bring to the table is deeply rooted in the ancient teachings from India, with over 60 years of collective teaching experience and in the most beautiful and grounding environment. Land of the Medicine Buddha is like stepping into another place -- it is a Buddhist monastery, so you will see monks walking around the grounds in the Santa Cruz redwoods with big prayer wheels, temples and so much intention. We are so excited to collaborate together with yoga, Vedic astrology and Ayurveda - the sister sciences!
Ayurveda suggests that one of the most important transitions to engage in thoughtfully, is from summer to fall. Allow us to assist you using the sister sciences of yoga, Ayurveda and Vedic astrology to bring you into alignment with your true nature, autumn and a deep sense of community and sisterhood. Enjoy three Yoga asana practices, Ayurveda kitchen witchery, a New Moon circle, and learn how to read your Vedic astrology chart. Make space for yourself with a weekend in the Santa Cruz mountains.

Tulsi Bagnoli, M.A. is a second generation Vedic Astrologer (Jyotishi) and meditation teacher who has been practicing yoga and meditation since the age of four and teaching professionally throughout the US and India for over 18+ years. She is passionate about showing leaders, creatives, change makers, and seekers what they're made of and unlocking one's full potential through the sister sciences of Jyotiṣa, Āyurveda and yoga.

Sera Melini has been a lifetime student and accomplished teacher of Yoga and Ayurveda. She has been blessed with teachers who have searched classically for the patterns of the Universe and Spirit. Her studies and experiences in the realms of Yoga, Mantra, and Ayurveda all serve to assist in increasing her depth, sensitivity, and simplicity in ways she lives and practices.

Khristine Jones is a long time practitioner of yoga and meditation, who is rooted in the teachings of India and has been taught from the lineages of bhakti, ashtanga and yoga philosophy from Ma Inda. She teaches from a place of tradition and has the ability to see and meet each student where they are at. With accessibility, humor and deep reverence for the teachings.

Khristine planned an amazing retreat at a stunningly beautiful location. Everyone had flexibility to explore and enjoy the beauty and beaches of Sri Lanka, with the daily grounding of yoga under Khristine's expert teaching. I would highly recommend any retreat planned by Khristine.

Khristine led an incredible retreat for us in Sri Lanka. Her deep breadth of yogic study informs her teachings and the way that she holds space. She is a true teacher and I feel grateful to be a student. She is kind and present and warm to boot!!

Excellent all around. Great yoga, great people, great place. Nothing to complain about, at all. Just perfect.

My mind is blown and my heart is full after a magical yoga retreat in Sri Lanka 🏝️. This journey was deeply nourishing—from the warmth of the predominantly Buddhist people to the richness of the culture, I felt truly welcomed and awakened by all the new sights, sounds, tastes, smells, and adventures. The southern coast was an absolute dream, with stunning surf, easy access to boards and mopeds 🏄‍♀️🛵. The yoga was incredible, and Khristine Jones did an amazing job organizing the perfect trip, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the beautiful culture, fun adventures, and deeply restorative yoga. It was truly the perfect balance of everything. I honestly can’t recommend Khristine or this trip more! This experience left me feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and deeply grateful—a trip of a lifetime!

This was an outstanding experience. Khristine was on top of her game with arranging accommodations, scheduling our yoga practices, and making sure everyone was enjoying their time. I got to meet a ton of great new people that I look forward to catching up with again soon. The food was amazingly delicious and healthy (except maybe the pancakes; SO delicious they couldn't possibly be healthy...) And they made specially formulated variations of the main dishes for the handful of vegans and gluten-free folks in our group. The staff at Land of the Medicine Buddha treat visitors like residents with their open-door policy on the meditation room (beautiful!), dining room/snacks and huge library of literature. The hiking opportunities in the gorgeous redwoods were out of this world. I regret not having more time to immerse and enjoy everything about this place! I never did make it to the sauna or pool, but that's just one of many things to look forward to next year. Thanks, Khristine, and everyone at LMB for an enriching and focused retreat!
