Q: Do I need Travel Insurance?
A: Travel Insurance is highly recommended when traveling Internationally. Allianz Global Assistance is our recommended insurer. If using Allianz, please furnish them with our ACCAM account #: F211036. Please feel free to contact us if you need further information.
Q: What are my flight options?
A: While some airlines do offer non-stop flights to Cozumel from larger cities, these can be costly. Most flights will be one stop, and these are much cheaper. You can book your flight to either Cozumel, or Cancun. If you fly into Cancun, there is a ferry that runs out of the port of Playa Del Carmen about ½ hour away by taxi. From there it’s 45-minute boat ride to Cozumel on the fast ferry. Winjet, and Ultramar run ferries every hour from 7 AM to 9 PM.
Q: What is the Passport/Visa requirements for travel to Cozumel?
A: A valid passport is required. Mexico has no expiration requirements. If the passport is valid for the duration of your stay, you’re good. However, we suggest with any international travel that your passport have at least 6 months remaining. Visa: On your inbound flight you will be asked to fill out an entry visa. The hotel will need this document when you arrive.
Q: How do I get to the hotel from the Airport/Ferry Terminal?
A: The Island of Cozumel does not allow shuttles. However, Taxi’s are plentiful and reasonable.
Q: Can I use US Dollars?
A: Yes. However, you may get change in Pesos. It is easiest to use the local currency, and you may get better deals when using Pesos. Most ATM’s will dispense Pesos, however some will offer both Dollars and Pesos. Credit Cards are widely accepted, but you might want to check to see if your Credit Card has foreign transaction fees.
Q: What are my transportation options?
A: Taxi’s are plentiful. However, you may choose to rent a scooter or car for the day to see the east side of the island. If you choose to rent a scooter there are many scooter rental places in town. Most are negotiable on prices so don’t forget to haggle!
Q: Can I Drink the Water?
A: You can drink the water as Mexico does have a filtration system but we suggest you stick to bottled water just to be extra cautious. The Hotel will provide this and will be replenished daily in your room. Bottled water is available everywhere.
Q: What other activities does Cozumel offer?
A: Diving: Cozumel is home to world class Scuba Diving. Please contact us if you are interested. Explorean has a dive shop called the “Dive House” located right in front of the hotel. Signing up for diving is easy. Don’t forget to bring your Certification card. Snorkeling: Mask and Fin Rentals are available at the Dive House and you can snorkel right in front of the Hotel!
