Trip Highlights

The Palos Verdes coastline is like a hidden gem. It has so much to offer and seems to get overlooked with divers wanting to go to the islands. For the photographer, hunter, and sightseer it could even be better than the islands. Dive with us and find out for yourself!

The Palos Verdes coast has much to offer and why is that? The reason is much of it is very hard to get to unless you are a hardy beach diver. Divers with their own boats have been diving the Palos Verdes area for years because they know how great the diving can be. You will find deeper reefs with lots of life to shallow beautiful reefs lush with kelp and fish. For the photographer, it can be nudibranch heaven and for the sightseer, you won’t get bored because there is something for everyone.

This trip is best suited for

Advanced divers and above that have experience in cold water conditions including; current, swell, possible limited visibility and deep water. Most importantly, good buoyancy control is needed and surface signal tubes are always recommended.

The Boat

The SoCal Diver is new to dive trips around Catalina, Palos Verdes, and the Rigs and is available for charters only. The two people responsible for managing the boat operations and scheduling charters are Jeff Reeb and Seamus Callaghan. Jeff has been a long time active diver who has worked on both the Giant Stride and Peace dive boats along with serving as a Divemaster for Ocean Safaris dive shop. Seamus is currently a manufacturing rep for Huish and another longtime diver who has owned and run other dive charters. Jeff is more in charge of the operational side of the boat and Seamus mainly takes care of scheduling and setting up charters.

The Socal Diver is a 46’ ft x 16’ ft Newton dive boat built in Slidell, LA. but it is different than most Newtons because it has a compressor with an air bank, and depending on the need they can crank it up to fill high-pressure tanks to 3400 PSI. It’s a fast boat, usually traveling around 17 knots, weather permitting, compared to many of the other dive boats that travel around 8 knots. Read more about the SoCal Diver HERE.

Scuba trips to the Channel Islands for the experienced diver are our specialty. We run trips to wrecks, oil rigs & coastal offshore reefs and offer warm & cold water dive vacations. We don’t have a dive shop, and we are not a club, but we have been putting on some AWESOME trips since 2008.

GREAT trip! Basically a private charter with personalized attention and pleasant captain. We went diving on outer reefs in Malibu that were pristine and full of life. Nitrox fills all day was a plus! Safe, fast, fun... new sites... I'll be back!

As usual, Kens's trip to Santa Cruz was terrific. Very well organized, had great people, a great boat, and the diving was incredible - Visibility best I have ever experienced in California. Flame Reef is a terrific site, a bit deeper them some great kelp and marine life. Lots of topography. I didn't see them there was a Mola and a Giant sea bass Hanging around.I will definitely go on more of Kens Dive trips
