About this trip

You may think you’ve done Paris, but our delightful guide, Ellen Williams, knows Paris like the back of her hand and takes us into the neighborhoods where locals live and play. You’ll come away with wider knowledge of the terrain and a deeper understanding of what makes Paris arguably the most fascinating city in the world.

Click here to watch a video that will introduce you to your guides, give you a feel for the trip and fill you in on the full itinerary.

Ellen is the author of three guidebooks on Paris and she'll take us to lush neighborhoods not normally visited by tourists.  Read the story about our visit to France in 2022.

We Show You the Vibrant Heart of Paris

The itinerary for this Next Tribe Paris adventure is carefully designed to provide a balance of walking through a variety of particularly lovely quartiers, visiting small, lesser-known museums, exploring specially recommended boutiques, and enjoying a select group of cafés, bistros, and brasseries. While this is not a typical sightseeing trip, notable landmarks, and places of interest will be pointed out on all our outings.

NOTE: NextTribe members receive a $100 discount on price.

We will profit from being in the French capital when there’s daylight until almost 10pm, and when the many gardens we’ll pass through will be in full bloom.

We’re mindful that some of you will want more time on your own to wander, while others are more comfortable sticking with the group. We will happily help you arrange visits to any additional sites of particular interest or with tracking down items you may hope to buy.

We’ll provide you with pre-paid transit cards for all our metro and bus travel within the city. You’ll also receive a special Next Tribe Google map for your phone, so that you can easily locate any of the locations we’ll be visiting or share it later with Paris-bound friends. We’ll help you translate menus and speak with the locals, although many of them speak English. Our goal is to transform any Paris anxiety into Paris excitement. If our last 2 trips are any indication, we’re going to have a terrific time together in one of the best places in the world.

We've included a visit on the first afternoon to Monoprix, like a French Target that died and went to heaven. You can stock up here on any Parisian toiletries for your stay, for wonderful snacks for your room, extra socks, whatever.

Why Travel With NextTribe?

NextTribe offers a safe travel environment that through the energy and alchemy of adventurous women turns into a real community in a short amount of time.

On every trip, you will be led by a friendly and fun woman of our own age, who has deep local knowledge and/or roots. She has proved to us that she is responsible, flexible, and truly cares about every traveler, nurturing new friendships and making sure no one feels left out. Other tour companies drop in a local guide who remains apart from the group. Our leader is the glue among the travelers--the person who ensures that this is more than a trip; it's a community of curious, like-minded women on the move.

We are known for group travel for women over 45 who don't normally like group travel. We keep our groups small and know that our guests are curious explorers who can take care of themselves. We allow them space to make the trip their own. You will not be in lockstep on a tight schedule behind a guide. You can roam on your own if you want (with a good GPS and an understanding of how to meet up with the group later) or you can take full advantage of the guide's knowledge of the city.

We do expect our travelers to have a level of self-sufficiency, being able to carry their own bags if need be, and to be respectful of others in the group and open to new experiences and friendships.

What's the definition of travel insurance?

Travel insurance is the coverage for personal risks incidental to, and related to

planned travel, including one or more of the following...

● Cancellation or interruption of a trip or a vacation package

● Accident, sickness, disability, or death occurring during travel

● Delay of an arrival to your trip destination or a return to home

● Loss of baggage/personal effects

● Damage to accommodations or rental vehicles

What is not included in the definition of travel insurance?

The following are excluded from the definition of travel insurance..

● Major medical plans that provide comprehensive medical protection for

travelers on trips that last six (6) months or longer (ie working abroad,

deployed military personnel, missions and volunteering abroad, and more)

● Damage waiver contracts, as defined in paragraph (5) of subdivision (a) of

Section 1936 of the Civil Code. The phrase “damage waiver” or “collision

damage waiver” cannot be used to describe travel insurance coverage, but

the insurance contract may otherwise refer to “damage waiver” or “collision

damage waiver” provided by a company, as defined in paragraph (1) of

subdivision (a) of Section 1936 of the Civil Code.

The sooner you purchase a trip protection style plan, the more it can cover! We recommend purchasing a trip protection style plan within 21 days of making your initial trip payment of any kind for this trip, and prior to making your final pre-trip payment. Please ensure that all the activities you plan on participating in are covered by your travel insurance.

When you purchase it within 21 days of booking (and before your final payment) you can get better coverage

Several people have had to cancel trips because of a death in the family, an injury (one women broke her foot on the way out the door to the airport!) or COVID, and once we enter the non-refundable stage of your booking, we CANNOT refund your trip for any reason.

NextTribe is an affiliate of Allianz, and you can get a quote from them by clicking on the name below. They offer one time policies and annual policies to cover all of your trips in a single year.

These plans provides insurance coverage that only applies during the covered

trip. You may have coverage from other sources that provides you with similar

benefits but may be subject to different restrictions depending upon your other

coverages.

You may wish to compare the terms of this policy with your existing life,

health, home, and automobile insurance policies.

If you have any questions about your current coverage, call your insurer or

insurance agent or broker.

When selecting a travel insurance policy, please bear in mind that all travelers are strongly recommended to have medical coverage and that we recommend a minimum coverage of $150,000 USD for travel medical/accident & sickness, and $500,000 USD for emergency medical evacuation and repatriation. It can help for those benefits to be Primary coverage. We strongly recommend that the policy also includes benefits for trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, and some coverage for baggage & personal effects.

Since we are not licensed insurance agents or brokers, we are not allowed to

*Answer technical questions about the benefits, exclusions, and conditions of any of the

Itinerary

TUESDAY, May 14th
Welcome to Paris

We'll meet our guide for the week, Ellen Williams, above.  Once we’ve all arrived at the Hotel des Saints-Peres , we’ll gather in the hotel lobby for a welcome lunch while we get acquainted and talk a bit about our legendary quarter, St-Germain-des-Près.

We’ll walk to the nearby Faubourg St-Germain, once the neighborhood of choice for the French aristocracy in elegantly grand city mansions, and tour the Rue du Bac, a super-picturesque Left Bank rue commerçante (commercial street) brimming with gourmet food shops, boutiques, and the amazing Le Bon Marché, one of the oldest (and finest) department stores and food halls, and a detour to Musée Rodin, for the scores of blooming rose bushes in the celebrated sculpture garden.

Our first dinner will be at La Cigalle, a stylish soufflé restaurant near our hotel.

What a wonderful experience! I loved Santa Fe and especially loved my travel group of exceptional women! I’m booking my NextTribe trip to Charleston! Happy Travels! Aixa

Hotel and itinerary was great and it was fun traveling with women my age! Unfortunately for me, the time management of the trip was lacking and once one activity was missed, it created a domino effect that actually became a little stressful. Hikers should be comfortable with "moderate" level hikes at altitude that are 5-6 miles r/t. We all wanted more of the river rafting! Wish the trip to Buena Vista was in old town and not the newer area. Good for the inaugural itinerary but I do hope they figure out time management.

Thank you for your honest and helpful feedback, Noreen. We're glad you enjoyed the itinerary and the women on the trip! As to the scheduling issues, we rely on our travelers to tell us how fit they are for a hike, and we try to accommodate a variety of fitness levels. When some people are slower, it can cause delays. We are going to implement some changes that will address this issue in the future. As to the Buena Vista trip, we hear you about visiting the old town and we will try to include that in next year's itinerary. We look forward to seeing you on another trip soon.

This was a fabulous introduction to the Colorado Rocky Mts. It was a bit difficult to coordinate travel to Salida. Fly into Denver or Colorado Springs, then try to coordinate the 1-2 hr drive to Salida. I think those who were flying should have all flown into COS with a van pick up included in the trip cost. There is plenty to do in COS, Pike’s Peak, COG Railroad, Garden of the Gods, The Broadmoor and Seven Falls to name a few. Renting a car just to drive to Salida and back is an unnecessary expense. Royal Gorge on the way to Salida was a wonderful addition to the trip. Other than that, it was a great experience. Highlights were white water rafting and horseback riding in the beautiful Collegiate Range. The very best part is bonding with likeminded women who love the travel adventure. Meeting strangers who become friends to visit when you come out again! That is the best!
By JUDITH W for SOLD OUT: Colorado Rocky Mountain Adventure on Aug 23, 2024
Judith, after running the trip this year for the first time, we have to agree with you that Colorado Springs is a great airport to choose. It's less expensive to fly to Denver but Colorado Springs is a lot closer. And we appreciate your ideas about other places to visit in the area, though we'd have to add another day or two to the itinerary, and we try to keep our domestic trips shorter and more affordable. We're glad you found some new friends on the trip, and hope to see you again real soon!

The setting at “Present Moment” in Mexico is sensational. You can hear the ocean everywhere. The yoga is available, twice daily, from different practitioners, many of whom give amazing massages. The people that work there are wonderful and have been there for the past 3 years I’ve vacationed there. Then there are the women from Next Tribe.. all accomplished and interesting in so many ways. I have to mention the daily boogie boarding, turtle release, kyack/paddle boarding through a gorgeous bird sanctuary. The best was silent disco on the beach during sunset😊 hoping to be back again next year!
