Join us at Windsurfer Beach at Pineview Reservoir for a Summer Solstice Celebration complete with SUP Yoga on the lake, followed by a picnic and 108 Sun Salutations on the beach. You'll need to supply your own board, or rent one and bring it to the beach.
This retreat is being led by Heather Bloomquist, simultaneously with Bethany Forest up in Bear Lake to tap into the global energy and practice of 108 Sun Salutations that are practiced worldwide on this day.
Why 108?
The number 108 is sacred and significant in a number of ways:
- There are 108 Upanishads and 108 Tantras
- In Ayurveda, there are 108 sacred points on the body
- Mala beads have 108 beads, which are used for counting during meditation or chants
- In astronomy, the distance between the Sun and Earth is approx 108 times the Sun's diameter
A 108 Sun Salutations practice is typically done at the changing of the seasons, and is practiced worldwide. It's considered a moving meditation, repeating the same movement while connecting to breath, and even to Source - whatever that looks like for you.
It is believed that the internal heat generated during this practice is deeply cleansing, purifying, and allows you to connect deeply with self.
We'll do this practice in 4 sets of 27 with rest in between. Don't worry, you'll have an experienced instructor there to guide and watch you! Challenge yourself like never before and complete your first set of 108 Sun Salutes!
We'll meet up for a paddle on the lake, followed by a gentle yoga practice on our SUP boards. Don't worry if you've never done this before - our instructors are great at guiding you to find better balance and movement while on the water!
This includes all costs of the mini retreat to include SUP Yoga instruction, 108 Sun Salutations and a picnic lunch.
*You will need to supply your own SUP board, or rent one and bring it with you.
