About this trip

Step Into the Heart of Yoga—A Journey of Mastery and Awakening
200-Hour Training: October 3 - October 16, 2025
300-Hour Training: October 1 - October 18, 2025
Held within the emerald embrace of Vida Asana, Costa Rica—where the jungle whispers secrets to the sky and the sea sings lullabies to the wind.

Beneath the canopy of stars, between the rhythmic pulse of waves and the hush of dawn’s first light, a rare invitation unfolds—one not merely of study, but of becoming. The Grateful Yoga School’s Yoga Alliance-accredited 200-hour and 300-hour Teacher Training is no ordinary path. It is a passage into the marrow of yoga, where philosophy, movement, and breath converge, illuminating the vast and tender terrain of the soul.

An Invitation to Transformation

This is not just another training. This is an immersion into self, into breath, into the ineffable beauty of presence. It is a space carved from devotion, where seekers and teachers alike are called to step beyond the threshold of the known and into the extraordinary.

The Path to Mastery: 200-Hour vs. 300-Hour Training

  • 200-Hour YTT: This is the foundation, the essential beginning—the bedrock upon which every yogic journey is built. For those who feel the whisper of something deeper—a longing to move with intention, breathe with wisdom, and teach with heart—this training is a homecoming to yourself. It is a foundation built not merely on postures but on poetry, philosophy, and the profound truth that to teach is to love. This training is for everyone—not just future instructors, but seekers of clarity, presence, and transformation. Nobody should be without this sacred initiation into the practice. It will deepen your understanding, refine your movement, and awaken the teacher within you, whether you share your knowledge with others or simply embody it in your own life.
  • 300-Hour YTT: This is the next level—the evolution from teacher to leader. For those who have already answered the call of teaching and now seek to refine, to expand, to lead. This is not just a program—it is an invitation to mastery. Graduates emerge not only as teachers but as potential architects of their own yoga schools, guides of their own teacher trainings, and stewards of something far greater than a single practice: a lifelong legacy of wisdom and awakening. This training demands more—it asks you to refine your voice, to stand in your power, and to step into your full potential as a visionary within the yoga community. If the 200-hour training is the heart of your journey, the 300-hour is the fire that carries you forward, illuminating the path not just for yourself, but for others who will follow in your footsteps.

Graduates of The Grateful Yoga School do not simply receive a certification—they become a part of something eternal. They go forth to open studios, lead retreats, and touch lives in ways seen and unseen. This training is more than an experience; it is the dawn of a lifetime’s devotion.

A Curriculum Forged in Wisdom & Experience

This program is not assembled; it is crafted—woven from the lineage of great teachers, the latest discoveries in movement science, and the wisdom of the heart. Here, you will not only learn—you will become.

· The Art of Flow and Dynamic Sequencing: Move as water moves—seamless, boundless, intuitive.

· Teaching Mastery: The voice is an instrument; learn to wield it with grace, with certainty, with reverence.

· Self-Inquiry & Stillness: To teach others, one must first sit with oneself. Find yourself in the quiet spaces between breath.

· Functional Anatomy & Fascia Integration: This is not about memorization; it is about embodiment.

· The Philosophy of Yoga: Words left behind by sages, now stepping stones for your path—Patanjali’s Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Hatha Pradipika, Tantra, Samkhya.

· Pranayama & Breathwork: The breath is the first story ever told; learn to listen, to guide, to heal.

· The Art of Voice & Rhythm: To guide another is to orchestrate the unseen. Master the cadence of a class, the silence between words, the resonance of presence.

· Music, Movement & Mantra: There is a current beneath sound and motion—learn to flow within it, and your classes will sing.

· Personalized Mentorship & Guidance: Every student is seen. Every journey is honored.

-The 300 hour training will have an additional 30-50 hours online via Zoom-

Why This Training? Why Now?

Because the world does not need more instructors; it needs leaders, storytellers, healers, visionaries. This is not a path of repetition but of revelation. It is a doorway, and it is open.

· Envision yourself moving with the rhythm of the jungle, your breath an echo of the waves.

· Picture yourself stepping forward with the confidence of lineage, the wisdom of tradition, and the heart of a guide.

· Feel what it means to be fully present, fully seen, and fully alive.

This is not education. This is transformation.

Are you ready to step into your fullest, most radiant self?

Jesse Cassady - The Grateful Yoga

Started in 2002 by Jesse Cassady, The Grateful Yoga School's philosophy is rooted deeply in love, compassion, community, and perpetual growth. Having worked with children and adults on the spectrum, survivors of various traumas, and a vast landscape of beautiful students of all genders, races, ethnicities, and creeds for more than 23 years, Jesse teaches an all-inclusive, all-levels practice of mindfulness, from the home, the studio, the workplace, and retreat destinations around the world.

At TGY, our understanding of mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, and yoga comes from Jesse's endless pursuit of literary studies and ongoing perpetual studentship, with Jesse having graduated from dozens of teacher training programs and apprenticeships as a student spanning 3 decades.

With tremendous respect for his, and all beings cultural heritages, many of his studies and teachings are grounded in traditional Yogic and Zen Buddhist belief systems. The Grateful Yoga honors teachers Jonny Kest, Swami Satchidananda, David Williams, amongst many others.

An experienced leader of dynamic movement, having been voted “DC’s Best Yoga Teacher” multiple times, and graduating hundreds of students from his yoga teacher training programs since 2011, Jesse continues to share heartfelt classes, workshops, retreats, and trainings that not just explore a full range of motion, but evoke a full range of emotion as well.

With sincerity, our philosophy shares that though the physical practice is an integral piece of the mindfulness puzzle, his lectures, workshops, trainings, dharma talks, and public works prove that there is far more to yoga than what happens on a yoga mat.

Jesse will be the lead teacher for these trainings, and will be bringing along some truly brilliant and masterful teachers he has known for years and thoughtfully picked to co-lead this special experience.

Barri DeFrancisci - Moksha Wellness

Barri is a 500-hour registered yoga teacher, Yoga Alliance Certified Continuing Education Provider, meditation teacher, Pilates instructor, women's circle facilitator, retreat leader, Dharma coach, and dancer.

Nourishment for Body & Soul

At Vida Asana, the table is a place of gathering, of communion, of gratitude. Three nourishing meals are offered daily, crafted from local, organic ingredients whenever possible. The flavors of Costa Rica dance on the tongue—vibrant tropical fruits, rich plant-based dishes, fresh-caught fish from the sea. Every bite is an offering, every meal a reminder of our connection to the land.

With the rising sun, a warm cup of herbal tea welcomes the day. At dusk, laughter mingles with the golden hues of the setting sun as stories are shared over nourishing plates. Food here is more than sustenance; it is a love language, a way of being present.

A Haven of Rest and Rejuvenation

Beyond the rooms, Vida Asana invites you to move, to breathe, to simply be.

  • The Pool & Sun Deck: A tranquil escape, where the water glistens like liquid sapphire under the midday sun, and hammocks sway in the softest embrace of the breeze.
  • Yoga Shalas: Two open-air practice spaces, where the breath becomes a symphony and movement flows like poetry.
  • Bicycles & Beach Access: For those who wish to ride through the lush landscape, to feel the sand beneath their feet, to listen to the waves whispering secrets of eternity.

A Place That Remembers You

Vida Asana is not just a destination—it is a feeling, a memory in the making, a place that lingers in the soul long after you have left.
