Depart and travel along the B1 route, often on sand roads where you will see the Quiver Trees in abundance.  These trees can reach a height of 9 meters and thrive in the sub arid zones of Namibia.  They are indigenous and endemic to the area stretching from Namibia to Namaqualand in South Africa

Today we will travel along this panoramic route taking in the best of what the Namib has to offer from Fish River Canyon to Sossusvlei where will stay over at the Elegant Desert Lodge & Eco Camp.  We can experience the unparalleled desert adventures, hot air ballooning or the signature scenic sunset drive. Against the breath-taking setting of the Naukluft mountains, desert adapted Springbok, Kudus, Mountain Zebras and Oryx roam freely. The various hiking trails along the infinite open plains and mountains can be explored on your own. Liberate your soul by treasuring the blue skies, soulful silence and seemingly limitless horizons. 

From Sossuvlei to Sesriem.  An early start is essential in order to experience the best part of the desert where temperatures of over 40 degrees mid-morning are not uncommon.  If you search in the shrubbery you will find birds abundant taking shelter from the heat.

The well adapted Oryx Gazelle can be found silhouetted on the landscape.  You will be mesmerized by the shades of sand as the clock ticks away the hours.

We will spend the night at the SOSSULSVLEI BETESSDA LODGE

Along the contours of the dunes of the Namib we head on to the outpost of Solitaire, a very apt name for this oasis that lies approximately in the middle of  Namibia where you will find a general dealer and post office.  A not to be expected gastronomic experience awaits you at the Bagdad Café, fill up tank and tummy and see the variety of plants, baobabs, quiver trees and zebras.

From Solitaire we make our way to Swakopmund where we will overnight at the hotel A LA MER

Swakopmund, the jewel of the Namib, this quaint seaside town you will remember for the rest of your live……make memories!

Experience a township tour in the afternoon or take a quad bike up the dunes. A helicopter flip gives you an overview of the area. Museums and boat trips can be booked.

Unique to The Namib Desert, you will find the Welwitschia Mirablis some older than 2000 years.

Experience local cuisine and overnight at the hotel A LA MER

Along the way we stop at Cape Cross which is a Cape Fur Seal Beach where a stone cross was put up, in 1485, by a Portuguese captain and navigator, Diego Cão. Cape Cross Seal Colony, in Namibia, is the breeding place of the Cape Fur Seals, which are a species of Sea Lion. We will explore the Namib Desert and experience the famous SPITZKOPPE. 

The White Lady is a rock painting, located on a panel, also depicting other art work, on a small rock overhang, deep within Brandberg Mountain. The giant granite monolith located in Damaraland and called ‘The Brandberg’ is Namibia’s highest mountain 

Admire 6,000-year-old rock engravings at the Twyfelfontein World Heritage Site. Stock up on locally sourced crystals at the craft market near the Spitzkoppe, or buy a marble souvenir at the Karibib Marble works.  Visit the Damara people at their Living Museum. We will overnight at the TWYFELFONTEIN Country Lodge 

The rocky outcrops of Twyfelfontein feature exceptional Bushmen engravings, which are considered to be some of the best-preserved etchings on the continent. Explore Namibia’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site, ideally located in the Kunene region of north western Namibia Twyfelfontein was proclaimed a National Monument and is home to the most intense collection of rock art in Africa with some 2500 distinctive rock carvings and paintings on 212 slabs of rock, with 13 additional art rock slabs, some estimated to be around 6000 years old.

Near Twyfelfontein lies the stunning Organ Pipes, fascinating geological formations over 150 million years old, showcasing rich rust coloured columns that tower over 5 meters above ground and resemble a church organ

We stay over at OKAKUEJO

Etosha means the ‘great white area‘ this refers to large dried pan in the middle of the Etosha Park.

Watch the lion, giraffe and elephant drinking from these 30 waterholes which are vital to their survival. From Etosha you can track desert-adapted elephants in the red-rock landscape of Damaraland

This area has great diversity, from wild frontiers and country in the south and west, to flat, green stretches in the far north which reach up to the great Kunene River. Known for: amongst others the Desert Elephant.

Fantastic game viewing; birding after the rains; and incredible landscapes are to be experienced in these parts.

The Hoba Meteorite of Namibia weighs 66 tons and is the largest meteorite ever found.

This is most probably the closest that meagre man will get to something extra-terrestrial?

We depart from Khorab and make our way to the Capital of Namibia namely WINDHOEK.

This charming little town will allow you to stock up on souvenirs and crafts in local markets.
