Day Hike of Mt. Kilimanjaro
After early breakfast, depart for Mt. Kilimanjaro day hike (2.5 hour drive).

9:30am -2:30pm Hike 5.5 miles up to Mandara Hut near the upper edge of the forest line. The hike takes about 3-5 hours. The path is interesting, starting through rain forest vegetation, and then opening up to giant heather. If time and weather permit, a short walk from Mandara to Maundi Crater is worth it. Stop for a picnic lunch then walk back to Marangu gate, meet our driver.

3:00pm- 5:30pm Drive back for overnight at Gran Melia - 5 star hotel

NGORONGORO CRATER + MAASAI TRIBE
Breakfast + Check out of Hotel. Roadtrip to the Ngorongoro Crater - one of the most mesmerizing natural features in the world, the largest unfilled inactive volcanic crater, or caldera, in the world. At the base of 610m cliff faces elephants trumpet, lions roar, and antelope…eat grass. 9:00am-12:00pm Safari game drive and take photographic memories at the rim of the crater + Meet the Maasai tribe

Enjoy a picnic Lunch in the middle of Serengeti then depart to arrive to check in at the Tented Lodge - The lodge has a main building situated in top of a hill with 360 degree views of spectacular landscape. The premises include an area to relax with comfortable sofas, outdoor and indoor restaurant and an outdoor swimming pool. Every evening a camp fire is lit and guests can enjoy the sunset with drinks and appetizers. Weather permitting dinner will be served outside under the stars.

Option 1: Air balloon Safari in Serengeti. 4am Depart for an unforgettable journey above the Serengeti. Some things are worth getting up early for and this is certainly one of them. Rising before the birds and heading out in the silence of the pre-dawn towards the launch-site is all part of the anticipation.

6:15am-8:15am Experience the great migration with a bird’s-eye view and soar over the plains at sunrise during a hot air balloon safari, after celebrate with Campagne +

9:00am-10:00am Whisk off by safari car to your special Serengeti breakfast. After the air balloon, head out for safari game drive as your return to your lodge to rest + Lunch. 4:00pm-6:00pm Head out for an evening game drive. Return for Dinner + night over at lodge.

12:00pm-3:30pm The class entails making swahili food with a local chef using local ingredients. It is hands-on participatory class each student will be involved in preparation and cooking.

Cooking: Pilau (spice rice) is a festive dish, well-known and much loved in the Zanzibar archipelago. In this workshop, you will learn to prepare it, using many of Zanzibar’s fresh and aromatic spices – and of course you will get to eat it afterwards. You’ll take home the recipe and can then treat your friends and family to this beautiful and fragrant dish.

Lunch is served after class.

Overall trip of a lifetime. Had an amazing experience Things that would have helped; Game drive would have been beneficial if driver/guide provided us with information regarding the places and animals we were seeing. He was a great driver but lacked knowledge about the animals we were seeing. We saw some of the driver/guide providing educational information which our driver lacked. there needs to be a streamline in how the schedule/tours are managed daily. We were not made aware of schedule changes and somethings were a surprise to our group. Tanzania and Zanzibar were beautiful apart from otherwise stated everything was great, my group was catered to and taken very good care of.

With 54 countries to choose from, I wanted to settle on one, which would define the journey of exploring the beautiful continent and our motherland, Africa. After much thought and indecisiveness, I settled on Tanzania. This inaugural trip to Africa, was to celebrate a milestone birthday and I wanted to be accompanied by close family and friends, so ensuring it was an enjoyable trip for all, was a priority. After attempting to plan the trip on my own, it became overwhelming and it was obvious that I needed assistance. I first heard about "Curious on Tanzania" through a referral from a friend who'd travel to Tanzania in 2020 and deciding to go with this travel company was the best decision I ever made. After reaching out to Justa, who founded this boutique, black-owned travel company, we had a phone consultation and in a few days, she sent a draft itinerary for my travel party to review within my specified budget. I recall telling Justa that I wanted my experience to be around culture, history, adventure and relaxation and she curated an experience that perfectly captured those interests. In the months leading up to the travel date, Justa and I frequently communicated and I even provided her with additional requests, such as a birthday photoshoot, birthday cake, makeup artist and photoshoot outfit, and without any hesitation, she agreed to make it happen. Fast forward to the actual trip in October 2022, and the entire experience was nothing short of AMAZING. Justa and her team made my family and I feel like we were the only ones being catered to. The accommodations were excellent, the tour guides and drivers were kind, knowledgeable, patient, dependable and personable. We didn't have to worry about anything, except be on time for the drivers to take us to the various activities/areas. Justa's flexibility is also commendable, as she inserted activities during the trip, which she felt would be of additional value and interest, at no additional cost. I commend Justa and her team for the great work they do in providing these curated and unforgettable experiences to persons like me. If you have a burning desire to travel to Tanzania or any other African country, but do not know where to begin, I highly recommend reaching out to "Curious on Tanzania'' and you will not be disappointed.
