The pinnacle of this experience is the epic Sportful Dolomiti race, where an estimated 4000 fellow riders will line up at the start. Due to our relationship with Castelli's global brand manager - Steve Smith, we have secured prime slots at the front of the Dolomiti race for our VIP guests and an opportunity to join the VIP ride with Paolo Bettini & Daniel Oss. Billed as the ‘Hardest Granfondo in Europe’ - that may be true, but it could also be called the ‘most beautiful Granfondo in Europe'. If you decide to choose the mammoth 200km Granfondo, you will be tackling over 5,000m of breathtaking mountain passes or a challenging 120km and 3,000m of elevation.
In preparation for the big event - we will take you on a journey into the heart of the southern Dolomites and ascend some of Europe's most beautiful climbs.
We will be offering a complimentary luxury shuttle from Venice airport to the beautiful town of Bassano del Grappa, where we will be based for this southern Dolomites experience. We have chosen a wonderful 4 star charming hotel in the centre of this vibrant buzzing town. From here, we will be perfectly located to tackle these legendary climbs in the cycling paradise of the Veneto region. We are spoilt for choice of summits, but these will include Monte Grappa (last 2 mountain climbs from the 2024 Giro), Passo Croce d’Aune - the climb where Tullio Campagnolo was inspired to invent the quick release due to his hands freezing and going numb while climbing in a snowstorm. Other local favourites are Foza, Cima Campo and Passo Cereda. Obviously being in Italy, the riding is only half the story – the rest of the journey is to be enjoyed in the bars & restaurants, where a healthy sampling of the delicious food and wine of Veneto are a must! To immerse ourselves into the terroir, we will be offering a local wine tasting. Veneto brings heft and history to the table. Its importance is in part due to the volume of Pinot Grigio it produces, and the massive growth in demand for Prosecco. The Girona Velo Dolomiti Experience is one for the pure climber and with a support vehicle and 2 guides on the road, you will be able to ascend at a pace that best suits you. Climbing these iconic Giro d’Italia summits is why cyclists flock to the southern Dolomites. You will no doubt fall in love with this unique corner of Italy - a region that feels a million miles away from the Italy of gondolas, gelaterias and colosseums further south. We’d love to have you join us for this magnificent but challenging week of cycling hedonism, plus all the sumptuous delights that the area has to offer.
Allow us take care of everything – so you can just focus on riding, eating sumptuous Italian food and sharing this unique experience with your fellow riders.
