About this trip

Co-create transformational healing with the energy of the summer season, the land and yourself - in ways only available when you give yourself the gift of your presence and a sacred pause. An immersive experience of connection, healing & empowerment. The expansion and healing work experienced on The Retreat has the power to travel backward + forward in time.

The Retreat is a 4-night/5-day experience at the incredible Stowel Lake Farm, an organic farm and retreat centre on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia - the land of the Hul'qumi'num and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples.

Every day will be a beautiful journey that will consist of:

-morning and afternoon yoga

-evening circles

-nourishment from the land via gourmet farm to table meals

-moonlight celebration

You are welcome to participate in as much or as little as you feel called. This is an invitation to practice reverence for and honour your spirit/body/heart and to allow yourself to be held.

This retreat is for women and non-binary folks who identify with women's communities, facilitated by SHE RECOVERS Foundation Founders Taryn Strong and Dr. Dawn Nickel.

Women recovering in ALL areas of their lives will benefit from this immersive experience of radical self-care. Out of respect for women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, alcohol and drugs are not permitted at this retreat.

I am not skilled enough with words to describe the experience at the farm. This was my third retreat there - the minute I step off the ferry, I breathe easier. The food is absolutely spectacular. The staff could not be more welcoming and lovely. Taryn and Dawn are their own kind of magic - there is plenty of space for alone time or for soulful, meaningful conversations that involve no BS or small talk - right to the guts. This is not an easy trip to make from NY but it is beyond worth it and fills me up every time. Do not hesitate if you are on the fence. xoxo

I am a 76 year old woman in my 17th year of recovery from alcohol and other addictions.I have been struggling the past year to find my way to recover from complex PTSD.As soon as I heard about thie Retreat focussed on "trauma informed yoga",I knew I had to go,even though I have not done Yoga for about 40 years. I found Taryn to be an incredible guide to befriending our bodies and opening our hearts through this practice. She somehow customized the sessions so each woman could go on her own journey at her own pace.My life has changed. This Retreat was well worth the investment and I recommend it without reservation to any woman serious about her recovery. Dawn, thank you also for your steady unwavering support. The Farm is the perfect supportive environment for this work providing a sacred space for transformation.I have attended many personal development seminars and courses over the years and have never been able to be so vulnerable and therefore experience so much change in such a few days. I thank you both from the bottom of my heart. Judith B.

I look forward to this truly sacred time; devoted solely to myself every year. The Farm seems to have some spiritual, magical properties that makes time stand still so that there is time to recharge and reflect. Taryn and Dawn are the most perfect facilitators that are available whenever you need them, and yet somehow, just hover in the background so as to not influence the healing journey that is meant to be discovered. The food is fresh and delicious and the accommodations are comfortable and homey. If there were 2 of these a year (different times of year....) I would do whatever it takes to be at both.

I’ve never felt so well nourished inside and out as I do on A Sacred Pause Retreat. Dawn and Taryn are absolutely the best hosts; each bringing their individual and shared life experiences. Taryn’s yoga is healing and I’m always surprised with what is revealed while on the mat. Dawn’s humour and empathic energy is feeds my soul. The sacred grounds, food and community are only a few reasons why I will always return to Salt Spring Island Retreat. Love Robyn xo

The salt spring retreat is EVERYTHING! If you are thinking of going and need an extra little nudge this is it:) I have been retreating with Taryn and Dawn for over 8 years and this retreat was once again perfection. Stowell lake farm is so beautiful, the food, the gardens, the accommodations, yoga studio, farm stand, the barn (where I love to spend my free time on a couch) and so much more. I stayed in a yurt again this year and I loved it. It is a little rustic but also has the beautiful linens and extra touches that make it feel special. Dawn and Taryn take great care of you and you feel supported by them and amazing peeps during your time there. I always leave there feeling happy, grounded and inspired.
