The Three Thousand (known locally as “Los tres Miles“) is considered one of the most classic routes of Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The objective is to crown three famous mountains of the Balearic Islands: Sa Rateta (1,113m) – Na Franquesa (1,067m) – L’Ofre (1,093m). The three peaks exceed 1,000 meters above sea level, hence the route’s name.
This circular trail is one of the best hikes in Mallorca, allowing adventurers to enjoy a 360- degree view of the island. The itinerary has a medium-level difficulty and is over four hours long. The most challenging part is the first one, going up to sa Rateta ("The little rat"), because sometimes the path is difficult to see, but there are usually cairns just in the right place to guide you. The walk's main section is a rough and tumble trek across three gorgeous rocky mountains, perfect for hikers seeking a challenging path with breathtaking views. There are at least four very distinct ways to complete the walk afterward. The easiest option is to go back to Cúber, where you started. However, if you don't need to go back, there are other finishing points you can go to, like Orient, Biniaraix, or Fornalutx.
