The archaeological site of Tikal is the second biggest and most excavated site in the Maya area. Since 1956 the University of Pennsylvania has mapped and excavated an area of 16 square kilometers, finding more than 3,000 ancient structures.
In our tour we will appreciate temples, palaces, pyramids, residential homes, stelas, ball courts and causeways that are evidence of the importance and monumental history of the Maya Culture. We will combine our tour visiting Tikal and Yaxhá (the third largest Mayan city in Guatemala). In this city we will find triadic pattern structures, that represent the importance of the Maya Cosmovision in the development and planning of the ancient cities.
