About this trip

Escape to the beauty of coastal Maine for a women's weekend of writing and hiking that promises to be both transformative and rejuvenating.  Join us for 1 day or 2 days!  Don't miss this opportunity to explore the science proven effects that writing, nature and creativity have on our mental, physical, and emotional health.  You will leave this weekend feeling refreshed, realigned and ready to embrace life with self-awareness and intention when you return home.

Courtney Oman & Sarah Holman

Courtney Oman, creator of WayFinder Writing, offers unique collections of writing prompts to help women explore, express, and embody their true selves. Courtney Oman | Linktree

Sarah is a Registered Maine Guide and writer.  She is the owner of She Hikes Mountains, a female-focused hiking and backpacking guide service, and creator of the blog shehikesmountains.com, where she writes about her adventures all over New England, including the region's 67 4000 footers and Maine's Hundred Mile Wilderness.  Learn more at www.shehikesmountians.com


What to Expect

What will the group be like?

This intimate group will share the desire to connect to themselves and create transformation in their lives. You will have the chance to meet virtually before the retreat.  


What goes on between sessions?

This retreat is designed to foster self-connection and transformation. All sessions are optional but encouraged. If you feel you need to rest or take some solo-time this is honored. 


How can one weekend make a difference?

Sarah and Courtney have experienced personal transformation through nature, writing, creativity and connection within themselves and with others, time and time again.  They share their guidance with you through nature, intention setting, self-exploration and expression, and encouraging you to take inspired action in your daily life.


Is there any follow up?

You are welcome to work further with Sarah booking additional guided hiking adventures at shehikesmountains.com and with Courtney through her one on one coaching, writing workshops, and retreats. 





Food

Food is not included in this retreat.

Saturday Night Dinner: We will be meeting for an optional dinner at a local restaurant on Saturday night-you are responsible for the cost of your meal.  

Accommodations

Saturday night we will be staying at the Bradbury Mountain State Park Campground at a group site that you are welcome to camp at free of charge.  This is where we will be hosting the group campfire as well.  If you prefer not to camp, there are many hotel accommodations available in Freeport, ME.

Cancellation Policy

This retreat will be held rain or shine.  We have a shelter available at Bradbury State Park and a building at Wolfe's Neck State park to lead the workshops for the weekend and they will be adjusted as needed.  There will be no refunds for the retreat after booking. 

Packing List

We will spend two days outside, regardless of weather! The average temperature in Freeport, Maine during September is 70 degrees, but much higher or lower temps are possible. 

Please plan to bring plenty of layers to keep yourself comfortable. We recommend non-cotton clothing that dries quickly in case of rain, sweat, or intentional ocean splashing! 


Must haves:

Comfortable backpack for carrying everything you need for the day

Water - at least 2 liters a day, either in bottles or a hydration bladder in your pack

Rain jacket (necessary) and rain pants (optional)

Comfortable walking/hiking shoes or boots

Lunch and snacks for both days

Sunscreen and bug spray

Basic first aid kit and any personal medications

Appropriate warm layers

Yoga mat/Towel for Yoga


Optional:

Water shoes or sandals for our ocean day

Sit pad or lightweight folding seat to for writing time on the trail and beach

Trekking poles

Sun hat or cap

Towel and/or bathing suit for ocean swimming


Overnight:

If you are spending the night with us at Bradbury Mountain State Park Campground, you are responsible for bringing your own camping gear. We are happy to help you plan and check your packing list! Please reach out for support.

Day 1 Bradbury Mountain
Clarity & Direction

Introductions & Intentions

Connect with your guides and fellow adventurers through storytelling and tap into yourself through a guided intention setting yoga set and meditation. 


Journal Making 

Begin the day crafting your unique journal that you will use for your WayFinder Writing practices throughout the day/weekend.


Lunch

Fuel up for an afternoon hike.  Lunch is NOT provided; please pack accordingly.  


Summit Hike & WayFinder Writing

Embark on a leisurely 3 mile roundtrip hike to the Summit of Bradbury Mountain.  As we navigate the trails, you will be offered writing prompts designed to spark clarity introspection and provide you clarity and direction in your life. 


Send-Off

Closing ceremony to celebrate our time together.
