PASSPORT:
Every traveler must hold a valid passport at the time of departure and for a period of up to 6 months after the return date to Canada or according to the requirements of different destinations, and provide us with a photocopy upon settling the balance.
VISA:
ONLINE APPLICATION We recommend applying for a visa online on the Tanzania embassy website. Don't worry, the process only takes about 20 minutes. APPLY HERE: https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/ Once your visa is approved, typically after 5 to 15 business days, you will receive a visa application notification via email with a link to download a visa grant notice. The grant notice must be presented at the electronic visa window of immigration upon your arrival in Tanzania.
ON-ARRIVAL APPLICATION If you are traveling to Tanzania within a month and have not obtained an electronic visa or if you encounter issues with the electronic visa process, you can obtain a visa on arrival. A visa can easily be obtained on arrival at Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, or Dar Es Salaam airports, although the queue may be long. No passport photo is required, and the visa must be paid in US dollars only (if arriving at Kilimanjaro Airport) and by credit card only (Visa or Mastercard) if arriving at Dar Airport.
The current fee is 50 USD, or 100 USD for American citizens. Payments are accepted IN CASH ONLY. US bills must be new, dated within the last 10 years, and not dirty or torn.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: We strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance within two weeks of your deposit. Deposits are non-transferable and non-refundable, and we are unable to amend our cancellation policy for any reason. You are free to choose the insurer that suits you. Once you have purchased insurance, please provide us with your policy numbers so that we can assist you in case you need to file a claim. Considerations: Coverage for pre-existing conditions is generally NOT included if you purchase a policy more than 2 weeks after making a deposit, so it's always best to get a policy as soon as possible. Even if there are unfinished details such as flights or additional services, buy the policy now and adjust it later. Our deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable, and additional cancellation fees are imposed from 90 days before departure. The insurance covers your investment even before your departure! During the trip, you will be in beautiful, remote destinations; even minor injuries like a sprained ankle or a simple fall may require a medical evacuation costing up to $30,000. Make sure to have your itinerary handy to ask the travel insurance agent what the best coverage is for you. We also recommend purchasing local coverage to coordinate local medical evacuations and supplement your travel insurance. See below for more details.
PURCHASE MEDICAL EVACUATION INSURANCE: We highly recommend purchasing local coverage to coordinate local medical evacuations during your stay in Tanzania. This works in addition to your travel insurance and does not replace it. This allows any evacuation to occur more quickly and efficiently, using local services instead of waiting for pre-approvals from your provider. The Flying Doctors (Maisha Short Term Silver Plan) or Arusha Medivac (Tourist Plan) offer excellent options for less than $25.
By submitting your deposit and completing your Traveler Profile (sent after your first payment), you agree to the following Traveler's Code:
