Sharpen your senses and get ready for an exciting night-time experience under the Ring of Kerry's award winning dark skies. On a clear night at Álaind Lodges B&B in Sneem, you can see more stars than you might have ever thought possible. With this area's minimal light pollution you can see a vast amount of stars; planets, satellites, the space station and perhaps the Milky Way. You may even get to wish upon a shooting star.
When you book this 1 hour experience, we'll provide you with all that you need for a memorable star gazing experience. At Álaind Lodges, you can enjoy the stars from the comfort of our reclining chairsin our garden area.
We'll provide you with some blankets, binnoculars, a red light head torch, a star chart and most importantly a warm drink. All you need to do is wrap up warm, give your eyes a little time to adjust to the darkness and let the show begin.
We also have a telescope which is particularly good for looking at the moon.
Booking Terms & Conditions
The stargazing experience will usually begin one hour after sunset. The sunset time for Sneem is detailed on many weather apps.
Full payment required at booking: This secures your spot and helps with planning.

- Full refund: In case of cancellation due to inclement weather (e.g., heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms). You'll have the option to reschedule for another date.

- Head TorchA good quality head torch will allow you to see where you are going.
- Star ChartWe'll provide a star chart to help pick out the constellations as their position continuously change throughout the year.
- BinocularsWhen you want to focus more closely on a particular area of the sky, the right set of binoculars will help you see much more.
- Comfy ReclinerWe'll provide you with a reclining chair with leg rest so that you can observe the stars in comfort.
- BlanketsOn a clear night temperatures can drop, so we provide blankets to keep you warm.
What’s not included
- Walking BootsA pair of waterproof walking boots with good soles is a must for this experience. As we may be in wild areas at night, boots are essential to participate in this experience.
- Outdoor ClothingWarm layers are required for this experience. Temperatures can be cold at night and the weather changeable. Please come prepared
