Taste of the Night: Motorbike Street Food Tour (KV-SGN-005)

Meet our guide at your hotel or at another place specified by you. You will then receive safety instructions on how to ride on the back of a motorbike properly in order to ensure the safest experience. Then, you will be whisked away through the rush hour traffic to discover and taste the range of special dishes offered in small alleys, while learning about the cultural significance of each dish. You will probably be getting full at this point, so you do a bit of walking to help digestion and enjoy the nightlife of Saigon. Next, your guide will introduce you to the most popular Vietnamese food tradition – the street barbeque. You will have a chance to fill up with irresistible, authentic dishes and enjoy some local beer to wash it down. As the tour comes to an end, and in typical Vietnamese tradition, do not forget to try some sweet desserts. You will then be transferred by motorbike back to your hotel.

Experience the Mekong by Cruise (KV-SGN-017)

Begin the day with a drive to Ben Tre, approximately 90 minutes from Ho Chi Minh City, where you’ll board a boat that cruises along a branch of the Mekong River. After a short ride, you’ll disembark and set out on a light walk through a small community to visit a brickwork factory where bricks are made by hand. Your boat trip continues to My Long village where you’ll depart to walk through the hamlet to see how rice paper is made and taste rice cake. Following the Cai Son canal, you’ll wind through a coconut jungle, visit a coconut workshop, have a look at the stages of coconut processing from husking to prizing out the peel by hand. Next, set down a small waterway and stop at a buzzing bee garden, enjoy some fruits, honey tea and listen to local music. Visit a candy mill and enjoy some sweet treats before a walking to visit a farmer's house where traditional sleeping mats are made. From here, you’ll have the choice to either bike on rural tracks, ride on a xe loi through a range of coconut groves and vegetable patches, or to simply relax at leisure. Now on a row boat, head along a canal lined with shady palm trees and stop for lunch at the Green Garden Riverside Restaurant. As the tour comes to an end, head back to the main pier in Ben Tre by motorboat to meet your driver, and then return to Ho Chi Minh City.

Hoi An walking tour with foodie experience (KV-HOI-030)

Meet our guide at your hotel in the afternoon for a walking tour through Hoi An’s Old Town with its hundreds of historic houses, congregation halls, pagodas and other notable structures. A key trading port from the 15th to 19th century, Old Town’s wide range of architectural styles reflect its indigenous and foreign influences, leading to the city becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. There is plenty to see, such as the Japanese Covered Bridge, the Pottery Museum, the 200-year-old Tan Ky House, Chua Ong Pagoda and the vibrant local market. You will visit all of these places on this walking tour, so be prepared! You will also have the opportunity to paint your own traditional mask – a memorable souvenir to take home with you. While you are walking, you can try some of the local street food, including, Vietnamese coffee; the best banh my in Vietnam; banh bot lọc, clear shrimp and pork dumplings; banh it, sticky rice dumplings; bánh khọt, savory coconut pancake; balut egg; cao lau noodles; and sliced pork wrapped with rice paper, among others.

This morning you will spend your day in a Farming & Fishing Life Tour which provides you with a close-up and intimate exposure to both the local farming and fishing communities. Accompanied by your tour guide, you will start the day cycling slowly along country roads and witnessing local Vietnamese rural life firsthand and where you will have many photo opportunities. Then you will visit a beautiful organic vegetable village, where you will help watering and planting vegetables, hoeing the soil with a local farmer, and riding a water buffalo in a rice paddy field. The photo opportunities are endless. Later you will board our eco-tour boat for a river cruise to meet and engage with local fishermen and enjoy a hands-on experience of traditional net fishing. You will also experience paddling the unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boat along the waterways of coconut palm paradise. This tour provides you with a cultural window into the ways of life of both Vietnamese farming and fishing communities. Meet our guide at your hotel in the morning and visit the Purple Forbidden City, constructed by Emperor Gia Long in the early 19th century. Located in the Citadel of Hue’s Imperial City, it was badly damaged during the Tet Offensive of 1968. Hue was established as the capital of unified Vietnam in 1802, and was not only the political, but also the cultural and religious center of Vietnam under the Nguyen dynasty until 1945. You then visit the tombs of emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Tu Duc, who was Vietnam's fourth emperor is said to have had 104 concubines. The tomb of Khai Dinh, who was Vietnam’s 12th emperor, represents a fusion of traditional Vietnamese style and modern influences. It is made almost entirely of concrete and includes many European architectural details.

This morning meets your guide and driver early in the morning and head for Hoan Kiem Lake to join groups of local people practicing tai chi and aerobics – a regular morning routine! After visiting Ngoc Son temple in the middle of the lake, you head to a traditional café where you can try Vietnam’s local iced coffee, ca phe sua da , and if you’re feeling adventurous – the ‘egg coffee’. You then continue to a street food stall for a delicious banh mi – a typical baguette sandwich filled in with a variety of ingredients. Afterwards head to Hanoi’s Old Quarter where you will see some of the French colonial architecture of former times, including St. Joseph’s Cathedral – a French gothic building constructed in 1886. Next, walk to the Hoa Lo Prison, where Vietnamese as well as American and French prisoners of war were once held. Then it’s on to the Huu Tiep Lake, better known as ‘B-52 lake’, where the wreckage of a US B-5 bomber can still be seen. At noon, you stop to enjoy Hanoi’s traditional bun cha noodle dish, made with grilled pork and rice noodles. In the afternoon, you go to the Temple of Literature built in 1076, where Vietnam’s first university was established to educate Vietnam's royalty, mandarins and members of the elite – a fascinating glimpse into the country’s past. Last but not least, head to a street where the tracks of Hanoi’s railway pass only meters from the entrance to homes. Together with your guide, you can walk along the tracks and take some beautiful photos of the city. The day finishes with a refreshing glass of draught beer at a local bia hoi spot – a chance to mingle with the locals.

Today, you will visit the stunning Tam Coc Region, also known as ‘Inland Ha Long Bay’. Much of the topography consists of soaring karst mountains, which some consider to be even more spectacular than Ha Long Bay itself, hence the name. Here, you will visit the Tam Coc grottoes and enjoy the spectacular, peaceful scenery of Trang An while gliding along a river among the rice paddies and karst limestone mountains. After the boat ride, you stop off at Thai Vi temple, and then take a bike ride through the mountains and villages. You then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, before heading on visit Hoa Lu, the former capital of Vietnam in the 10th and 11th centuries when Vietnam was under the Dinh and Le dynasties. If the weather is good you can hike up to the top of Ma Yen Mountain to enjoy the panoramic view of the Sao Khe River and Truong Yen village below. You then transfer back to resort.
