Level 1 Beginner Training

Off-road skills don’t happen overnight.  We want you to feel comfortable when you transition from the pavement to the dirt, and our training will help you build the finesse required to adventure ride safely.  Breaking down each movement into easy-to-understand steps is the key to our training.  The Triple Threat—or clutch, brake, and throttle—is one example of our focus on the fundamentals of controlling the motorcycle at slow speeds.  By re-learning how to precisely control the actions of clutching, braking, and throttling, you’ll maximize your riding capability using this core principle.  The Triple Threat is the backbone of our training program, and it carries over into every exercise we do. One thing is for sure: you will have a lot more confidence, the necessary tools, and refined skills to help you “Ride your Ride.”

Level 2 Intermediate Training

Continuing from our Level I class and/or building upon the skills you have already, this 2-day training class further refines your control of the motorcycle through the mastery of “The Triple Threat” – the Clutch, Brake, and Throttle at slow speeds, over terrain and during tight maneuvering.  Body position is critical in Level II training and will be explained and practiced at length. Level II Training is for life-long learners; those who realize motorcycling is a perishable skill.  At the end of this two-day training event, you’ll be ready to ride more technical trails, further gain confidence and become a better rider. Practice is still key, however. Ride with others who have good riding techniques, display safe and considerate motorcycling etiquette and encourage you to “ride your own ride”.

This is your event. We are here to help you succeed in your own way. West38Moto offers a different experience than other off-road motorcycle training and tour companies. We recognize that not everyone functions well outside their comfort zone, while others want to be pushed out if it. People learn at different speeds, in distinctive ways, and will reach individualized goals. Because everyone has to start somewhere, our focus is on teaching off-road fundamentals at your pace and expanding the size of your comfort zone.

This was the most challenging tour I have done. The training and training tour were invaluable in preparing me for the harder sections of the BDR’s. It is amazing how much abuse these bikes and riders can safely take. Dusty and his crew made accommodations for the various bikes and riding styles while not adversely affecting the group ride. I recommend West38Moto for all ADV riders that want to see beautiful scenery and improve their riding skills. Finally, Dusty’s enthusiasm, optimism, and encouragement were contagious. Thanks for the great trip.

I am so happy I found West38Moto online and took their 2 day Level 2 training, followed by the 1 day ride. I like that Dusty and his trainers genuinely love what they do and that is infectious. Every one of the trainees had a positive attitude and had a good time, with no pressure, but lots of encouragement. I liked that the company focuses on what they are good at (training) and doesn't try to do everything. The location and training environment was ideal with the land owners' participating in every activity and spending time with us in a very gracious way. This was my first real trip on my adventure bike after several years of ownership and I now know more about what it (and I the rider) are capable of. Thank your for everything and I'll look for future opportunities to join trainings or guided rides. Tom H.

It was an amazing experience. The staff were all very knowledgeable and made sure to give direct feedback for each rider. The groups were small enough that we had 1 instructor per 4 students. The camping was very fun and the route that I would recommend over staying in a hotel. It made speaking with other students before and after class easier for me. Everything was an amazing educational experience that I will definitely recommend to others.

Dusty and his team create a great environment to learn how to ride better on your motorcycle. With encouragement, positive correction, and inspiration, Matt led the level two class well so all the riders became better. This was my fifth class, and I will definitely take another. Everyone needs to get more education and this is a fantastic way to do it. I highly recommend you take the course if you have an adventure bike and want more confidence taking it off road.

I can't say enough about the trainers: Dusty, Matt, Dave, and Rodney. They were all super helpful and knowledgable. But equally as important, they were fun to be around. I learned tons and am already scheduled to do Level II. A great investment.

Amazing class. I had Dusty and Matt for my adv training. I'd originally signed up for level 1 but Dusty helped sort me into the Level 2 group which we agreed was more appropriate and my best learning environment. Dusty is fantastic instructor and was as attentive and knowledgeable. When asked a question you can tell you get Dusty's full attention, he stops whatever he is doing and focuses completely on you and your needs providing thoughtful and thorough answers. Matt as well provided very insightful alternative comments and helped setup the drills while providing a different take and personal experience to each lesson. The class was completely safe and done professionally with highest regard to student learning and safety. I wouldn't hesitate to send anyone to this class beginner or advanced. You will learn and have fun here. During a 1 day ride post-class, when the trail got tougher than expected, I never doubted the Dusty had the ability and knowledge to handle any situation adventure could throw at us. Which it did with tough trails, medical issues, heat related dangers, etc. in the AZ desert. Dusty had my complete trust not only in my personal safety but in the techniques he was teaching and I have very high standards. If you are new to a adv class then this is perfect and you will be handled with white gloves and learn everything you need to be a better safer rider. If you are an advanced rider then you will dial in your techniques with the their teachings and become an even more competent rider. I have nothing negative to say about the training or class. Great job and I will be doing a BDR with Dusty and\or Matt soon and looking forward to the experience. I have no doubt I will continue to sign up for training, BDRs, and anything else West38moto has to offer as my funds and time allow for years to come. Thanks Matt and Dusty, looking forward to riding again with you.
